Day 11
In your own space, ask for recs. Something as simple as "I like XYZ (where XYZ is a kink, a pairing, a trope, etc) - please rec me some." Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
Okay - please rec me! I want to read outside my comfort zone, so I'm looking for recs for:
Torchwood (Jake/Gwen more than Jack/Ianto)
Doctor Who (Nine intrigues me more than Eleven)
Star Trek
Harry Potter (Rare pairings preferred, anything with Sirius Black preferred)
The Curse of Chalion (or the whole series)
Sherlock Holmes (Granada or BBC, not the movie'verse, pls)
And anything else wonderful in any other fandom that you think I'd enjoy. Or something by your favorite writer or something unusual and unique that pushed YOUR buttons.
My Snowflake Challenge Entries:
Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4 (no entry) | Day 5 | Day 6 | Day 7 | Day 8 | Day 9 | Day 10 |

Thank you for anything you can rec!

Date: 2012-01-22 02:18 am (UTC)Doctor Who:
Anything by DameRuth, but to give you somewhere to start, I'd go with her Bliss!verse (Nine) if you're in the mood for something lighter or her Flowers!verse (Ten) for something grittier. For Bliss, start with Link--it's the core story. For Flowers, just start at the beginning, and know that there is eventually smut in it, if you're patient. ;-)
Also anything by LyricWritesProse (
Left Behind, by Azriona, is an utterly amazing look at how Jack Harkness ended up in the same universe Rose Tyler is stranded in. This one is Jack/Rose, past Nine/Jack/Rose and pre-Ten/Jack/Rose.
Survivor's Guilt, by Amberite, is the darkest, most intense Nine/Jack I've ever read.
What the Master Wants, by Becky H, is one of darkly triumphant moment in The Year That Never Was, while Jack and the Doctor are captive aboard the Valiant. Dub!con.
If you're up to more from the Valiant, check out Valiant Tales, by Robin C. (
Yamx does several really great series, but if I had to pick just one or two stories, I'd aim you at Look Down, which is long, plotty Jack/Doctor plus Rose, and An Overpowering Staleness, which is Nine/Jack/Rose...but it's an AU in which Nine is fobwatched, and temporarily human, and doesn't remember who he is.

Fair Game, by Mimarie, is awesome, angsty, lovely Jack/Gwen kink. I love Jack/Gwen, but I've read very little I actually like, because most of it very much stands outside of the actual constraints of those characters in the series. This is that rare fic that takes them on head on, and it really, really works.
Sam Storyteller does awesome stuff, but most of his Torchwood is Jack/Ianto. You might still want to check out his master list at some point, but for a couple of specific recs, try The Quiet Room (I don't even know how to describe this, but I think you'll really like it) and Job Description (Ianto/everyone, but not all at once, and it's weirdly lovely and utterly devestating).
I recommend And Seven for a Secret to pretty much everybody, just because it's so incredibly well written and so very Torchwood and so very Jack . . . despite being written set during World War II. Complete with Indiana Jones-style dime novel Nazis. *g*
Weirdly, since I discovered Torchwood not long before Children of Earth aired, most of what I have bookmarked turns out to be from that point forward. So much of what came before was Jack/Ianto, and because I wasn't around in real time, I wasn't always able to catch the rest very well. But it's a start, I guess.
And I think I'm going to let somebody else do Sherlock. I only read lightly in that fandom, and my eyes are crossing.

Date: 2012-01-12 11:42 pm (UTC)Star Trek: You'll Get There in the End The best pon farr story from the reboot. Also the first of two stories, the second of which, War Games is long, plotty and unbelievably good. Seperis is an amazing writer and I will read her stuff in fandoms I would never otherwise read. If you want something completely out of left field try And All the Worlds Beneath which crosses Stargate Atlantis with Supernatural in a dystopian world with hints of Lovecraft.
Graduate Vulcan for Fun and Profit One of the best and funniest ST gen stories around.
It's The Grammar of the Skin H/C and Kirk/Spock/Uhura. Ninhursag does amazing noncon and H/C but it can be very graphic. Take the warnings seriously.
Strive Seek Find Yield Waldorph wrote a Kirk/Spock regency novella. It's sweet and funny and very hot.
I could go on for pages on Star Trek if you want more ;D

Date: 2012-01-13 08:17 am (UTC)The pairing is Harvey/Mike but there is mention of Mike/OC and there are warnings for rape/abuse/non-con. Angsty h/c jewel of ~17K words.
This is posted in the Suits prompt meme as a multi chapter fill because the filler deleted their account, therefore making this the only location. All that is missing is the epilogue. It's a great story without it. You can imagine your own 4 mos. later story.
This was written off one of my many dark prompts. If you are interested (and ever feel like writing for Suits), it'd be amazing to see what you can do with my prompts. They are in an info post atop my journals both here and lj.
So without further ado, here it is. I suggest you read the prompt first. =] enjoy!

Date: 2012-01-22 02:56 am (UTC)Unconditional, the founding story of her OT3-verse, and a beautiful look at how those three become more than friends. (Not quite Nine/Jack/Rose yet, but moving there.)
And then there's Two of Wands, where an alien culture's view of humans makes Rose and Jack question their relationship with the Doctor.
Or, if you're in the mood for something really kinky, To Please and This, Too, Is Love, which involve Jack subbing to Rose and the Doctor and are some of the best BDSM stories in.... ever. The way she portrays the headspace is incredible. Smutty, but so much more than that.
If you're looking for something funny, there's
All the King's Horses is a Ten and Donna (not Ten/Donna) fic by
And now for something completely different: Torchwood Babiez by Spastasmagoria. Can't be explained, must be seen to be believed.
I could go on, but I'm afraid between my recs and

Date: 2012-01-22 09:16 pm (UTC)The Case of the Haunted Hospital by Mistress Arion. Watson gets a fright and finally sees what has been staring him in the face.
Hidden Depths by Susannah Shepherd. Watson is plagued by his war wound, Holmes cannot help but be selfish. The angst in this is glorious!

Date: 2012-01-13 06:20 am (UTC)An Act of Charity (http://wordstrings.livejournal.com/652.html#cutid1&format=light), by wordstrings. PG-13. In which what's in his head is never going to get any better, and John is nearly thrown out of his flat.
This is the first Sherlock BBC fic I read, and the first in a series (http://wordstrings.livejournal.com/2753.html) detailing John and Sherlock's gloriously mad relationship. I think The Death and Resurrection of the English Language is possibly my favorite. But I love the richness of the language and the utter insanity of it all. It feels a half-step off from the show canon to me, which I'm fond of (I didn't care for the show itself), but may put you off.
Indecorous (http://archiveofourown.org/works/204010/chapters/302679), by Basingstoke. NC-17. In which John learns to balance a kinky girlfriend, an asexual boyfriend, a ten-inch cock, his sister, the neighbours, his friends, and his blog. Some are more balanced than others.
55,000 words of kinky Sherlock/John/Mary OT3 goodness. This story probably has more joyous kink per hundred words than just about anything else I've ever read.
Undercurrents (http://archiveofourown.org/works/149206), by entanglednow. R. "There, that's it, perfect, shut your eyes and don't move - and don't speak."
This is the only story I've found tagged 'pseudo-necrophilia,' just so you know. It's as much about being the focus of someone else's utter, rapt attention as anything else.
Sherlock/White collar
Date: 2012-01-13 09:26 am (UTC)Sam Storyteller's wonderfully funny story of what happens when Sherlock comes to New York and he and Neal get together, and exactly what John and Peter make of it is brilliant. Even better there's a rematch in London....
