Day 10
In your own space, talk about a creator. Show us why you think they are amazing. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
Since I’ve been in fandom, I’ve encountered many wonderful creators, people whose works I’ve admired, whose talents I want to steal, who constantly amaze me with their ability to produce story after story in a variety of fandoms. Basically, people who have amazing talent.
And sometimes, those talents get packaged in a really nice person, someone I am proud to call “friend.”
I am speaking of

RC is the writer of such varied and inventive series as “Wangst” – where in Neal and Peter and Mozzie have deep intellectual conversations with their, um, members. Well, not deep or intellectual – but there’s a lot of singing and comforting and general conveyance of wisdom. Dicks are smart, you know. The series does include special guest appearances by Judy, Sara’s judy. And El’s pussy.
Then there are RC’s Satchmo Fics. I swear, she has a direct brain link with the canine species:
Satchmo is a good dog. He knows this because Honey tells him so.
Satchmo is a clever dog. He knows this because Sweetie says it every day.
But what Honey and Sweetie do not know is that Satchmo is a magic dog. Satchmo can work his will on Mr. Neal with only the power of his thoughts. He is doing it now.
“Hey, Satch,” Mr. Neal says when he walks in the front door. He pats Satchmo on the head and goes to talk with Honey about the plan they have to catch a bad man. Honey and Mr. Neal catch many bad men.
Walkies, Satchmo says to Mr. Neal.
“You still haven’t told me what time yet, Peter, and I have plans tomorrow, so it’d be great if –“
“Oh, you have plans, eh? I do hope these assignments don’t inconvenience you.”
Walkies.
“Now that you ask, I wouldn’t mind if you rescheduled. I’m taking Sara to the Metropolitan Opera.”
“Let me just call the team and see if they wouldn’t mind speeding things up to suit you.”
“Could you? You’re a peach.” Mr. Neal pats Honey on the chest.
Walkies!
“Listen, you –“ Honey’s voice is rising, but Mr. Neal glances over at Satchmo and falls under his spell.
“What do you say, Satch, want to go for a walk?”
Satchmo wags and wags.
Of course, this is a delightful story, but it’s also a fill for an H/C bingo card square – “Possession/Mind Control.” How inventive and original is that? And she does it over and over and over again.
And did I mention her Neal/Clinton series – it’s fresh and original and it makes you want to smoosh those to together every time they share a scene in canon.
RC has the power to take the most mundane prompts and concepts and weave something magical from them. She is also the empress of the Hurt/Comfort fic in the White Collar fandom – she wrote enough stories to fill an entire H/C Bingo Card – each one special and unique and better than the next.
It’s hard to pick a list of favorites, but these are the must reads from her masterlist (in addition to the aforementioned stories):
Five Times Peter Burke Cried - The title says it all.
Baby’s First Christmas - Five inappropriate gifts given to Peter, Elizabeth and Neal’s new born son.
Like You Mean It - Neal talks dirty to Peter when he’s on a stakeout. The start of The Mental Rebellion series.
Tho’ Your Dreams Be Tossed and Blown (Walk On) - Neal’s dick cheers him up.
I Keep Missing You - A Neal/Clinton love story, told through texts and emails.
A Confidence Sans Bounds - Fever Fic – Neal is rescued from a prison in Burma.
Five Sentences That Only Sound Like They’re About Wanking - The perfect illustration of RC’s unparalleled creativity and cleverness).
Stranger in a Strange Land - Neal wakes up from a fevered nap as an actor named Matt Bomer.
Mama Likes and Mama Likes Some More - June blackmails Neal into letting her watch him and Peter get it on (before we knew about the special closet and the two way mirror).
You Will Leave a Mark - Post Point Blank, Moz gives Peter some devastating news about Neal.
This Wasted Blues - Post Countdown, Neal suffers from Broken Heart Syndrome.
This list is getting too long, and there are stories I’ve missed – especially Five By Five. Raquel broke Neal. Literally. She broke his penis. And White Blank Page, a fantastic riff on the “Sliding Doors” trope (which she wrote for me, by way of full disclosure).
Recently, RC has started writing for the Grimm fandom, and I bow my head in awe at how she’s taken a brand new series, already rich with mythology, and expanded it, made it more potent. Her fics made me want to watch.
I raise my glass to you,
