Day 24 - A Photo Taken Indoors

Taken from my home office window, as Hurricane Sandy Hits
October, 2012
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
There’s something about moving into a new house, less than a month later, getting buffeted by the storm of the century, and having no damage (other than 11 days without power). My neighbors didn't fare quite so well.

From inside, it looks like just ordinary rain. It must have been terrifying to be in the middle of it, though.

the only lights were from the exploding transformers

Yikes! That would have made it even worse.

Yeah, minus the exploding transformers, that's how the night of Hurricane Isabel was for me. Power gone, sitting in the dark in a small house surrounded by huge trees, listening to the wind howl. Two close neighbors had trees fall on their houses, ugh.

I cannot even begin to imagine what that's like. To me it looks just like any other storm. We've had big storms blow through, but California has nothing like hurricanes, thank God. I'm just glad you made it through in one piece.

I just realized this morning when I saw that this is day 24... I'm going to miss this meme when it's all done. It's been fun to get a window into your world (and get to see some spectacular pictures to boot).

Yay! I'm so glad to hear it. I get a little excited every morning when I see the email in my inbox, wondering what today's picture is going to be. Somehow, pictures of places I've been to or know through pictures I've seen mean more when it's someone I know taking the picture. Did that make sense?

From my point of view. It was less than 2 weeks after partial knee replacement. So now I'm cold, no power, no internet , no husband who's at work on nightshift and my knee hurts. After Sandy: now have smart phone,and will make hotel reservations right away and have radio with batteries. Normally keep flashlight, water, candles, non-perishables.
The cats kept me company and warm.

Great picture--it brings back memories of Sandy immediately.

I still remember you griping about lack of power (and lack of shower!). Amazing it's been over a year and a half since then.
