There’s something about moving into a new house, less than a month later, getting buffeted by the storm of the century, and having no damage (other than 11 days without power). My neighbors didn't fare quite so well.

From inside, it looks like just ordinary rain. It must have been terrifying to be in the middle of it, though.

Yeah, and of course once it got dark and the power was out (long out), the wind was like a banshee and the only lights were from the exploding transformers.

Yikes! That would have made it even worse.

Yeah - at first I thought it was lightening, but the flashes just kept burning. Very scary.

Yeah, minus the exploding transformers, that's how the night of Hurricane Isabel was for me. Power gone, sitting in the dark in a small house surrounded by huge trees, listening to the wind howl. Two close neighbors had trees fall on their houses, ugh.
