Summary: In some alternate universe, Peter Burke is a wealthy and bored financial advisor and discovers that one of his clients, Elizabeth Mitchell, is using her event planning business to launder profits from an escort service catering to the wealthy gay elite in New York. Instead of turning her in, he asks her to hire him. Neal Caffrey has been recently released from a four-year sentence for bond forgery and learns that his girlfriend, Kate has married his old boyfriend, Matthew Keller and they’ve taken off for parts unknown. Determined not to return to prison, Neal turns to his friend, Mozzie, for help. Moz knows a guy – or in this case – a gal who’s willing to hire Neal. As an escort.

A/N: Written for my very dearest friend and writing partner, [personal profile] coffeethyme4me, for Round Three of the [community profile] wcpairings fic exchange. It’s been hard writing this without my writing partner’s sage and candid advise, but my friends [personal profile] jrosemary and [personal profile] theatregirl7299 have given me stellar advice and very strong shoulders to lean on. And I also much credit all of the wonderful writers at the [profile] wcwu chat, for their loving support when I kept crashing and burning through different story ideas.

ETA: I can't believe I forgot to thank someone so dear to me - [personal profile] hoosierbitch - who stepped in as Porn Doctor Extraordinaire! Thank you, sweetness, for all your help.

Title from the Oysterband song, Street of Dreams

In my dream the world was silver
Underneath a magic moon
In my dream I lay there waiting
You came naked to my room

In my dream I lay there waiting
You came naked to my room
Woke up sweating, arms all empty
Three o'clock in the afternoon

Every day the world goes faster
Turning faster than it seems
Let's not talk about tomorrow
Leave me here on the street of dreams
Leave me here… on the street of dreams

Walk right by me in the gutter
Lying here outside your door
I look up and see your beauty
Burning up and wanting more

Luck is far away as moonshine
Every deal a shaky hand
Fame is just an empty bottle
Fortune's just a one-night stand

Absolutely magnificent. I'm so glad I kept it for today to savor. I read it in just one sitting. WOW. I love what you did with the characters and how you managed to keep them in character despite the drastic differences in their situations.

Also, what was really terrific was the way you managed to have them maintain their own dignity and sense of self despite the appellation of "whore." Neither man sold what was most precious to them, they never really sold themselves. What they sold was a product, a fantasy, an entertainment and nothing more.

I got the impression that most of their clientele accepted that and treated them decently, clients paying for a specialized service. Adler was unique in that he was the only client who got off on degradation of the very thing he wanted the most.

I also loved all the Star Trek references.

This was one of your best.
