White Collar Single Sentence Challenge II is Now Opened

Single Sentence Challenge Promptfest is BACK

Think you can’t write fanfic? Think again, because Sentence!Fest is a fun way to get your feet wet. Basically, the challenge is to tell a complete story using one sentence only.

Sounds easy, but perhaps it is not. How would you tell your story if you only had the space of one sentence? Would you use dialogue? Action? Emotion? Observation? Would it be haunting? Poetic? Sexy? Tragic?

The rules are simple: Tell a story using one sentence. It can be as long as you want it to be, but it must make sense (imaginary points will be deducted). It can be as short as you want it to be, but make those words count. Tell a story that will provoke the imagination of your readers – one they will demand to have the beginning, middle and end of from you – that is the ultimate goal. Here is an example:

Neal and Peter have the sex.

Here is a better one:

When Peter finally opened his eyes, it was to see his lover's rapt face as Neal rode him, the rising sun forming a perfect golden halo around his dark head; his savior, his angel.

Capice?

This particular ‘fest will operate like any other. Take a prompt, fill a prompt, leave a prompt. There are no limits – multiple folks can fill any and all prompts. Use them to craft a narrative if you like, but each entry must convey an entire scene within that narrative. All subject matter is fair game, so RPF/RPS is allowed. This fest is unlocked and opened to everyone who would like to write.

Cuz Sentencefest can be a little overwhelming, it will be co-moderated by myself, [livejournal.com profile] coffeethyme4me and [livejournal.com profile] rabidchild67 .

Prompts will be found in the first comments below - let the games begin.

Neal/Sara - Jostle

Sara knew it wasn't Neal's choice, but after getting knocked around by his anklet all night, she kicked him in the calf, just to see how he liked it.

Elizabeth - Jilt

[identity profile] lionessvalenti.livejournal.com 2011-11-08 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"Fuck men," Elizabeth said to her girlfriends as she filled her wine glass again, sick of men who cheated and then acted like it was her fault, and she had no idea when she went into work tomorrow with the hangover from hell, that the gallery would be robbed and her life would be changed forever.

P/E/N - multiply

[identity profile] attackfish.livejournal.com 2011-11-08 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"Triplets," Peter said, nonplussed, "Of course, we sleep with him once, and you're pregnant with triplets."

Sara - Jealous

[identity profile] lionessvalenti.livejournal.com 2011-11-08 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Sara knew Neal liked her, but as she watched him talk with Peter and Elizabeth, his hand on Peter's arm, she knew he would never love her.

Keller - Jealous

[identity profile] lionessvalenti.livejournal.com 2011-11-08 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
He didn't like Neal's speed, and he didn't like the way Neal seemed to always get what he wanted for nothing (more than any other criminal they knew), but more than anything, Keller didn't like that Neal slept in Kate's bed.

This is so great

Peter/El - Joy

[identity profile] lionessvalenti.livejournal.com 2011-11-08 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"He's so cute!" El squealed, watching Satchmo chasing after a rubber bone, and though Peter had never been much of a dog person, seeing the joy on his wife's face over the puppy just might convert him.

Elizabeth - Hard

[identity profile] lionessvalenti.livejournal.com 2011-11-08 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"Don't worry," Keller said as he stood over Elizabeth, "as long as your husband does everything I say, I won't touch a hair on your head and this whole thing will be over," but somehow, she had a hard time feeling comforted.

June - Kite

[identity profile] attackfish.livejournal.com 2011-11-09 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
The good days for Samantha were too good to waste, too good to fill up with all the boring things that kept the world going, and if her grandma was the only one to remember that, then it was grandma who was going to get to watch Samantha running down the hill with the kite string clutched in her fist.

Hurt, Hand, Fight, Sleep, Stumble

[identity profile] surreal-44.livejournal.com 2011-11-09 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
Continued from Heart, hold, sleep (http://elrhiarhodan.livejournal.com/218920.html?thread=6551592#t6551592)

I. After a long, long time in darkness, Peter finally surfaced into the waking world -- and it hurt, but not as much as it had before.

II. The first thing he was fully aware of, besides the fact that he was in the hospital, was the small, familiar hand holding his, and despite his complete exhaustion just from hovering on the edge of consciousness, he managed to squeeze El's hand with the little strength he had left in him.

III. He was awake but he couldn't speak yet, and his coordination was badly affected, but even through his exhaustion, Elizabeth could see the determination in her husband's eyes, and she knew that no matter what, they would work through all this.

IV. Elizabeth watched Peter sleep -- real sleep, a sleep that if she shook his shoulder, he would rouse from -- and said a silent prayer of gratitude that they had a tomorrow to look forward to.

V. Peter stumbled to the couch in his living room to sit next to Neal and he thought how recovery was a bitch and it was taking longer than he wanted, but he was learning not to take anything for granted; he had his life, he had Elizabeth, and he had good friends to make even the worst days just a little brighter.

~fin

Perhaps I will eventually make this into an actual story, since it's got huge chunks missing. :-D

Alex -- Wings

[identity profile] surreal-44.livejournal.com 2011-11-09 06:59 am (UTC)(link)
It didn't matter how often he'd seen them; every time Alex unfurled her gray wings and took flight, it still took his breath away.

Peter - sight, fight, might, bite, for attackfish, based on Elrhiarhodan's "AU"

[personal profile] greyminerva 2011-11-09 12:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I. When Peter entered the apartment and made his way to the bedroom (the layout was the same as his own flat), he didn't quite know what to expect - but the two dark-haired, blue-eyed creatures wantonly splayed across the covers, white skin gleaming in the soft lighting, was certainly a sight for sore eyes.

II. The moment he put the cuffs on Neal, the fight went out of him; the body beneath him became pliant, nearly liquid, except for the rock hard erection poking him in the thigh - and Peter felt his own hard-on grow even more insistent when he heard that final "click".

III. Neal squirmed, trying to lift his hips higher, straining towards the big, strong body above him; while he loved El's soft and supple curves, the sheer power of Peter's body (and personality, don't forget the personality, and eyes, oh god, that VOICE) made him pant and whine like a dog in heat.

IV. El was a real wildcat when the mood took her, and kneeling over Neal's face, his talented tongue buried in her wet folds, looking at Peter's powerful hips driving into her husband's shuddering body, she trailed hard kisses down the detective's throat before leaning in to worry at his collarbone with her strong, white teeth, determined to leave her mark on him tonight.

(Yes, I stole shamelessly from Elrhiarhodan's "Neal and El are married and Peter's the cop next door"-AU. ;) Or call it "inspiration" - it sounds better. :D )

Neal - breathe, light, sky, shine for surreal_44

[personal profile] greyminerva 2011-11-09 02:07 pm (UTC)(link)
He was still staring out the window when the words ran out, the last sentence trailing off on a soft breath as he lay there, watching the morning light spread across the sky, the world made anew; a world where he'd shared all his secret, made a confession of all his sins, bared his soul for the first time in his entire life, to the one man he knew could take it, could handle all of him; no priest could match Peter in this, could hold all of what Neal was in his hands and heart and still see him shine, still expect him to rise triumphant from the cesspool of his past.

That is just beautiful.

Clinton - Sight, Fight, Right, Tight (4 Sentences)

[identity profile] lionessvalenti.livejournal.com 2011-11-09 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Clinton always loved the sight of confused faces when he introduced people to his blue-eyed, white brother, Neal.

2. "We used to fight all the time," Clinton said, and taking a drink of his beer, he added, "Neal would steal my stuff and blame the dog -- he had all those noogies coming to him."

3. Clinton never quite understood how he and Neal ended up the way they were -- he was the one from the broken home, alone until he was nine when the Caffrey's adopted him, and he ended up doing all the right things (the Navy, college, the FBI); while Neal's family was amazing, and he still ended up a criminal.

4. "Don't be a stranger," Clinton said as he hugged his brother tightly, and Neal grinned back at him, saying the words before Clinton had the chance: "And stay out of trouble."

(I don't know why the idea of Neal and Clinton being brothers seemed like such a good idea all of a sudden.)

Unfinished Business

When Neal came back and told the Burkes that he had unfinished business with them, he really meant that he had left his favorite suit in their closet; however when they stripped him naked and took him to bed, who was he to complain?

Ghost -- The Story Begins Five Sentences

[identity profile] surreal-44.livejournal.com 2011-11-09 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
The "prequel" if you will for this: Neal/Alex -- Ghost (http://elrhiarhodan.livejournal.com/218920.html?thread=6549544#t6549544)

I. They hadn't even been doing anything illegal, Neal thought glumly as he looked down sadly at his body, while Alex slowly flickered into view beside him.

II. Alex was indignant, because of all the ways she thought things would end, she hadn't considered getting run over by a truck while sitting on a park bench; she'd really been hoping to go out in some sort of style, not to be flattened like roadkill.

III. They wandered the city aimlessly for a few hours, and met other ghosts, though Kate was nowhere to be found, nor were any members of Alex's family lingering here, but they did find Hale, who was hanging out with Byron and a few other familiar faces.

IV. The warehouse were Adler had died and the building that had once been the seat of his financial empire were surrounded by an oily, black mist that threatened danger and despair, and they only stopped a moment to stare in wonder before they slipped away.

V. Elizabeth took the news hard, Peter took it worse, but nothing matched the despair that Mozzie felt, and for the first weeks, Alex and Neal took turns sitting with him and caring for him as best they could, but El had always been better at it than either of them, and pretty soon they found they could let her take charge while they found new ways to amuse themselves.
