White Collar Single Sentence Challenge II is Now Opened

Single Sentence Challenge Promptfest is BACK

Think you can’t write fanfic? Think again, because Sentence!Fest is a fun way to get your feet wet. Basically, the challenge is to tell a complete story using one sentence only.

Sounds easy, but perhaps it is not. How would you tell your story if you only had the space of one sentence? Would you use dialogue? Action? Emotion? Observation? Would it be haunting? Poetic? Sexy? Tragic?

The rules are simple: Tell a story using one sentence. It can be as long as you want it to be, but it must make sense (imaginary points will be deducted). It can be as short as you want it to be, but make those words count. Tell a story that will provoke the imagination of your readers – one they will demand to have the beginning, middle and end of from you – that is the ultimate goal. Here is an example:

Neal and Peter have the sex.

Here is a better one:

When Peter finally opened his eyes, it was to see his lover's rapt face as Neal rode him, the rising sun forming a perfect golden halo around his dark head; his savior, his angel.

Capice?

This particular ‘fest will operate like any other. Take a prompt, fill a prompt, leave a prompt. There are no limits – multiple folks can fill any and all prompts. Use them to craft a narrative if you like, but each entry must convey an entire scene within that narrative. All subject matter is fair game, so RPF/RPS is allowed. This fest is unlocked and opened to everyone who would like to write.

Cuz Sentencefest can be a little overwhelming, it will be co-moderated by myself, [livejournal.com profile] coffeethyme4me and [livejournal.com profile] rabidchild67 .

Prompts will be found in the first comments below - let the games begin.

Ruiz - In the Red

[identity profile] attackfish.livejournal.com 2011-11-15 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
He didn't learn his parents needed money until the creditors started calling and he heard his mom crying on his dad's shoulder, but he didn't know they'd been conned until his dad jumped off the bridge and he heard his aunts talking at the funeral.

Hughes - hurt, Twistedbad!AU

[personal profile] greyminerva 2011-11-15 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Hughes had almost felt hurt at first, seeing Burke so generously sharing with Jones and not him - but then he'd come back into his office one evening and found Caffrey kneeling under his desk, hands cuffed behind his back with plastic strip-ties and a blindfold over those too-clever eyes of his, and after making good use of the little "gift" he'd felt much more mellow about the whole thing.

Neal - deny, rough, tender, Twistedbad!AU for lionessvalenti

[personal profile] greyminerva 2011-11-15 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
He wasn't really surprised, but he couldn't deny he hadn't quite pictured this when he offered Agent Peter Burke ANYTHING if he got him out of the pen before the Aryans took him out - and sometimes it's a bit rough, but it's not like he hasn't done this before, and sometimes it's downright tender and sweet - but it doesn't really matter, cause it's a hell of a lot better than the alternative, and most of the time they even let him get off.

Elizabeth - capable, (Twistedbad!AU)

[personal profile] greyminerva 2011-11-15 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
She loved hos responsive his body was, how she could play him like an instrument with her hands and her toys, and she loved his talented tongue and his clever hands and the fact that for now, she was the only one capable of this; because while Peter was working on it, he still hadn't been able to make Neal take his fist the way he took Elizabeth's, and she loved how hungry his eyes got when he watched her sink into Neal's straining body to the wrist.

OUCH! But yum!

For hoosierbitch's BIRTHDAY!!!

[identity profile] coffeethyme4me.livejournal.com 2011-11-15 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
From a prompt she gave me all broken up for different sentences. Happy Day, B!!!

1. a long lazy day

Saturdays were days when Peter’s gun holster stayed in the closet, when Neal made brunch in his tightie whities, and when El skimmed the paper while the second pot of coffee brewed.

2. with a lot of fucking happening

Some Saturdays they never left the bed, and they tied Neal up, and Peter and El tag teamed his delicate ass, and coffee never got made at all.

3. Intense orgasms

On these Saturdays, if they worked at it, Neal could come five times in about two hours, and Peter would have long since stopped fucking him with his cock and started fucking him with dildos and fingers and last night’s beer bottles, and El was always afraid the neighbors would hear Neal screaming from the pleasure Peter fucked out of him.

4. & then making iced tea

On these and other Saturdays, when everyone was worn out by 11am, Peter made the best iced tea that he said he’d learned from a great aunt upstate, and El would wipe the sweat from Neal’s brow, kissing his neck – his salty neck – before swallowing the sweet, sweet tea on a sigh.

5. & then doing it in the shower

And then Peter and El would shower while Neal slept, and things would get out of hand, and he’d have her up against the wet wall, inside her, renewed, and she would always come before Peter would, crying as the lavender rain fell over her shoulders.

5. & Peter going to walk the dog

Then Peter would walk Satch, and the sun would kiss his skin as the wind whipped past, and he’d linger on every corner to let the dog sniff, himself remembering the tight sheaf of Neal’s ass and his wife’s soft thighs against his hips.

6. while Neal eats El out

And Neal would always be hungriest before lunch, when it would be just them in the house and all was quiet and he’d urge open her legs with a smile, and then all that could be heard would be lips against cunt and the infernal gasps he wrenched from her throat.

7. & stuff like that

Saturdays were days when Peter’s gun holster stayed in the closet, when Neal made brunch in his tightie whities, and when El smelled like sex for the rest of the day and night and the three of them lived life as if by the tides: coming on strong, and then winding down, limbs and breath tangled, only to reach for one another again, urgent as the sea.

This is WONDERFUL, and AWESOME - so sweet and harmonious and hot and rough.
And that last bit was just f*ing poetry.

Peter/Neal/El -- Kissing, Tight

[identity profile] sheenianni.livejournal.com 2011-11-16 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Neal offers him an innocent look: “Technically, I didn’t steal it, and anyway, I already gave it back – “ and Peter is about to give him a harsh and cutting speech, except it’s ruined when El grabs Neal’s head, strokes his thigh, bites his neck and moans: “Honey, I love his hair, can we keep him?” – and suddenly Peter’s mouth is dry, his pants feel tight and his lengthy lecture is reduced into just “Stupid, reckless conman” before he joins the two of them on the couch and forcefully plants his lips on Neal’s in a lustful kiss.

very cute and very sexy at the same time.

Neal, Peter -- Loose ends, In the red

[identity profile] sheenianni.livejournal.com 2011-11-16 07:44 am (UTC)(link)
Intellectually, Neal knew that all his cons and crimes couldn’t have been victimless, but he never quite realized what that meant until they got this new case; there’s this girl that Neal has never seen before, but when she speaks about a heist in a certain museum seven years ago that cost both her and her husband their jobs and then their house when they couldn’t pay the mortgage, Neal starts feeling sick; when she tells them about the debts that caused more debts that finally led her to commit the crime, he feels even sicker, and so he stands up and asks to be excused, except Peter clutches his arm in an iron grip, pulls him down and makes sure that he WILL listen; and though the interrogation is barely halfway done, Neal already knows things will never be quite the same.

Nicely done! Because we all know that it doesn't really matter if you only target "rich, deserving" types, there's always a little guy getting squeezed.
I remember the flashback episode, where Kate and Neal dress up as cops and steal some painting from a delivery guy with Mozzie's help; and I couldn't help but think "there goes your job, mister" at the poor, hapless driver.

Whipped cream

[identity profile] ursula4x.livejournal.com 2011-11-16 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
They were having an argument in the kitchen and El turned to make peace between her irritable lovers when she, instead, shot Neal with her can of whipped cream before turning the impromptu weapon on Peter; all three of them ended up naked, messy, and happy after the world's best bout of make up sex.

Hat

[identity profile] ursula4x.livejournal.com 2011-11-16 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
The real story behind Neal's dislike of the van was the hot summer day when Jones ate the bad sushi, grabbed Neal's beautiful hat, and lost three days of lunchs in it.

Re: Hat

Perfect! :D :D :D
This is so digusting and funny! I lvoe it :)

Shell

[identity profile] ursula4x.livejournal.com 2011-11-16 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
The first time Peter really admitted that he had a thing for Neal Caffrey was the time he caught him in the shower in Boston; the naked con man covering his nudity with those elegant hands, his lovely skin gilded with moisture, his hair slick as an otter's, as beautiful and enticing as Botticelli's Birth of Venus.

Mmmmmmmm... *dreamy bliss*

What Happens in Burma

[identity profile] ursula4x.livejournal.com 2011-11-16 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
They never spoke to Kate about what happened in Burma when the deal went bust; about how they were stuck in one hotel room, waiting for the heat to die down; no cable, no internet, but they found so many ways to entertain each other that they stayed two extra days.

Balance

[identity profile] ursula4x.livejournal.com 2011-11-16 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
When Neal learned the tight rope for a con, he could have stayed forever on that rope, his body and brain against the laws of physics, beneath an audience enthralled with the beauty and danger...really it was everything that Neal lived for.

Re: Balance

[identity profile] daria234.livejournal.com 2011-11-17 07:57 am (UTC)(link)
LOVE THIS - such great characterization and images in such a short fic

Neal - Long Con

[identity profile] ursula4x.livejournal.com 2011-11-16 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Ernest Leavins came from a distinguished line of con men; he was smart, able, and skilled, but his nearly seven feet frame meant that he was too memorable to do anything but work a room when he asked Neal for a job.

Jumble

[identity profile] ursula4x.livejournal.com 2011-11-16 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)
His mother loved jumble sales, picking over the junk until she found a treasure...sometimes Neal felt Peter Burke was like his mom...trying to find something worth saving in Neal despite everything Neal did that was so very wrong.

Neal -- daddy issues

[identity profile] ursula4x.livejournal.com 2011-11-16 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Anyone who thought that Neal had daddy issues had never gone to bed with Peter Burke, had never had that hard, brutal body driving you crazy as Peter's eyes promised that his passion would never be sated.

For Elr -- Neal, Prayer

[identity profile] coffeethyme4me.livejournal.com 2011-11-16 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Neal had a difficult time praying, because he had never been able to believe, not when God had never helped him in any way that he could see, but…since her disappearance, Neal had started praying for El, praying for Peter -- every morning and every night, he prayed for them, clasping his hands like a child – and he prayed for them earnestly, humbly, even if he couldn’t quite bear to pray for himself.

For Elr: Neal -- Patience, Peace

[identity profile] coffeethyme4me.livejournal.com 2011-11-16 05:56 pm (UTC)(link)
He began practicing some Buddhist techniques, which taught that he could release all suffering through meditation, so when the anklet got too tight and all Neal could feel was the cage around his life, he learned to sit and stare at a spot on the rug and let even the good things like Peter slip away, because after all, everything was bittersweet these days, and not much besides silence brought him any patience or peace.

For Elr: Neal -- Power, Pain

[identity profile] coffeethyme4me.livejournal.com 2011-11-16 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
His arms stretched over his head, bound, and his back stinging with each punitive slap, Neal knew that, masked as weakness, there was power in taking the pain.

Neal - Jet

[identity profile] attackfish.livejournal.com 2011-11-16 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
He pressed down the lever on the water fountain and leaned in, only for the water to shoot upwards into his eye like a canon; when he turned around, Peter was there, watching, "You know, I like it when things blow up in your face, just a little," he said, and Neal flicked water at him.

Prompt: Peter - Burking (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burke_and_Hare_murders)

Re: Central Park - Four Sentences for Coffeethyme4me (Warning - Deathfic)

[identity profile] sheenianni.livejournal.com 2011-11-16 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
This is so utterly perfect it hurts, and it's very realistic - or as much as a story about the dead can be.
Loved Neal and El meeting together and being a sort of solace for each other, and loved Peter searching for them.
Poor Neal, Peter, El and even Mozzie!

Neal -- Daddy issues Two sentences

[identity profile] surreal-44.livejournal.com 2011-11-16 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Continued from Peter -- Strike (http://elrhiarhodan.livejournal.com/218920.html?thread=6668072#t6668072)

Mentions of child abuse:

I. Neal had never been able to figure out the puzzle of Peter Burke; how someone could be so self-assured, but still display vulnerability, how anyone could be so suspicious but caring of others, but he doesn't think too long on it, or try to put the pieces together, because he doesn't really think it's important.

II. Then one night, on a rare evening when Peter allows himself to drink a little too much, they start talking about fathers, and he tells Neal about the dark years of his father's alcoholism, and of the bruises and broken bones he'd explained away to the world -- and Neal wonders why he'd never figured this out before, and then he realizes that the only good con Peter could truly pull was the one that surrounded his family.

For attackfish: Peter -- Burking

[identity profile] surreal-44.livejournal.com 2011-11-16 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Burking was an act of purpose: to suppress, to smother, to kill...Peter had been teased by a classmate about that, and the ties it had to his name, though Peter brushed it off -- until today, when a savage pleasure flooded him as he held Keller beneath him and tried to make certain that Keller paid for every drop of fear that Elizabeth had felt.

Mozzie -- Wash away the sin

[identity profile] sheenianni.livejournal.com 2011-11-16 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
They all now have their own private hell and prison – Peter, whom Keller’s shot has paralyzed from his waist down; Elizabeth, who despite the intense therapy can’t sleep without sedatives; Neal, whose prison is literal; heavy metal bars that will be his only view for the rest of his life; and finally Mozzie, who every morning is woken up by the cries of sea gulls, and surrounded by the luxury of his extravagant home, he is once more reminded that not even the whole ocean out there can wash away his sins.

Re: Mozzie -- Wash away the sin

Ouch! Oh no! But also, amazing. Poor Peter and El! I almost feel sorry for Neal and Mozzie. Almost.

Neal/El -- Opening Up

[identity profile] surreal-44.livejournal.com 2011-11-16 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
This one went a little darker than I expected. Suggestive of a death!fic. :/

"I want you to tell me why," Elizabeth said simply, after everyone else had left, and shew as left alone in her home with just Satchmo and Neal, "I want you to tell me why we weren't enough, and I want you to tell me why my husband had to pay for your mistakes."
