The Flash, Season Two, Episode 17 - Flash Back

This episode is probably the best of the entire season, and maybe even the best of the series. Barry goes back in time, to a moment when he had still been ignorant of who Harrison Wells really is, for the purpose of learning how to run faster. He plans to interrogate his mentor, learning some speed secrets (The Man in Yellow was always that much faster than Barry). Of course things don't go as planned, Wells/Eobard figures out that the Barry Allen he's talking to isn't his Barry, and we end up with the EoWells/Barry Bondage Scene. It's a two-hander filled with quiet menace, massive rage, gamesmanship, and an incredible amount of sexual tension.



The rest of the episode is stellar, too - EoWells dragging his chair like a security blanket, Cisco having a not-so-quiet freak-out at the appearance of TWO Barry Allens, the redemption of Hartley Rathaway, the first appearance of the Time Wraiths, and the off-screen hatesex between Barry and Eo.

If only The Flash had been able to maintain this quality - writing, acting, characterization - the show might not have been cancelled.

I do love Flash, and EoWells is so interesting to watch. Elseworlds reminded me of that. But I don't think it's been cancelled yet - all signs point to renewal, especially with Crisis on the horizon.

In my head (and in those of fellow EoBarry fans), the show is cancelled. Last year's crossover killed it deader than dead for us.

Ah. Well, this year's crossover was some of the best writing I've seen from them, and definitely the best crossover. So maybe someday give it a look?

Love the present season of FLash. It has got back a lot of the balance it had in the previous installments.

I may take a loot at it when it goes onto Netflix in the spring. Don't really want to invest any time in it now. But thank you for letting me know.

Oh, my, that was some serious stuff, right? (●♡∀♡))ヾ☆*。I hoped I wasn't the only one recognizing the mountains of unresolved sexual tension...
EoWells freaks me out a little, to be honest. He's so sharp. Terrifying. There's an underlying evil in him that unsettles to the bone. He was perfect and I loved him until the big revelation of him being, well, Eobard. Ew. I very much prefer the idea of real Harrison (who in my imagination would be a less angrier version of Earth-2-Wells) and Barry together.
Genius dynamics. Awesome.

I think I find the EoWells/Barry dynamic so appealing because there's so much unknown history there - the reasons behind Eo's enmity are never explained - not fully even in comic canon (yes, in one timeline, he'd been obsessed by Barry in the future and went back in time and was driven mad). And comic canon makes it clear that Eo had looked up to and quite possibly loved Barry. There's always been a reason why Eo's twisted and in the TV canon, all we know is that Barry sinned against Eo greatly, and made him who he became.

I find that conundrum appealing.

Well, considering all these points, it really becomes more exciting, this whole Eobard thing. To be honest, I'm not familiar with the comics (used to be pretty hard to get them in Hungary - I love internet <3 and international shipping...) Hmmm.
