I've done it.

After nearly five years of cross-posting from Dreamwidth, I've finally disabled comments on LiveJournal.

I don't expect to ever delete my LJ account, there are too many comms that need to stay there for archival purposes. But I don't want to remain active there, and one of the easiest ways to put an end to that habit is to stop accepting comments on my journal.

ETA: Am trying to update the little note at the end of the post to direct LJ readers back here. Hope it works. And let's try this again.

It's teeny little things, like how my reading page looks with the icons on the right (even though I've clicked the setting to put them on the left), and LJ has an option where I'd see links to comment responses on the right side bar of my friends' page (that's fairly new; maybe within the last year or so?), and I can't find anything similar on DW. Those things may be partly related to my awesome layout that Kanarek made and set up for me (b/c I'm semi-hopeless on such things unless I have step-by-step instructions on coding, etc.), and I can totally live without them, but it's just little tweaks like that that would make it "feel" more like I'm used to. Some of it's likely just me getting used to how they are on DW vs on LJ, and I can live with that, too ;-)

Oh, that's easy enough to fix! You need to set up Flexible Squares in DW. Here are the instructions: https://parapsychic.dreamwidth.org/740.html

And don't use the file that's attached to that page, use the one here.

When you go to customize your layout on DW, you'll select Custom Layers - Flexible Squares. And then you can copy/paste your CSS layout from LJ to DW. You'll never know the difference.
