I've had a really, really good run of it the past six weeks. The Pairings fic, my Peter!Whump fic, a bunch of timestamps and other fics.

And yesterday and today, I've hit a wall.

I know I need to take my own advice and give my brain a break. Which I think I'll do tonight. But I wanna write. I've got terrific prompts from my flist for timestamps - working on two of them now. Also have the Big Bangs, other really solid story ideas. Plus a new idea that I'm actually a little reluctant to write about, because it involves some nasty current events (which I may write and hold on to, if I can't get the plot bunny out of my brain).

It's just that it's very quiet at the office and it would have been a perfect day to get lost in fic. Oh, well. Can't have everything, now, can we.

I know the muse will come back - maybe tomorrow, maybe over the weekend. Just need to give myself a break.

And for the promised Bonus Bomer...

Awww, sorry to hear that. But yeah, I break is always good. Here things are quiet at the office, too, with a small dose of insanity now and then, and I am milking it for what it's worth... like staring at pics of a certain firefighter :P

That photo is gorgeous ♥

Whiner!

;P

You're right, give your brain a break and bask in the glory of all the awesometastic ficcage you've written lately (some of which I still need to read! MEEP!). *pets poor Elr's brain*

Not that I wouldn't cheerlead and throw juicy carrots at your plunnehs and whatever to keep you going. *g*

I DID NOT RECEIVE ANY NOTIFICATION ABOUT ANY TIMESTAMP! DAMMIT, LJ! *shakes fist*

Thanks for letting me know! *runs to hunt it down*

You know, sometimes its feast or famine, and rarely anything in between. I hear you about it being quiet enough at work to write. There have been days lately where I almost feel guilty that I haven't written something at work instead of goofing off. But, it's also nice to just say "I'm not going to write anything today." Quite liberating, that.

We're often so work-driven (even when that "work" is writing) that we feel too guilty to give ourselves a break to recharge batteries. I say stow the guilt and just have a nice day off. Go back and reread one of your favorite stories (or two or three, if you have time). Who knows? Maybe it'll inspire you when you do go back to the keyboard.

You know what's been working for me lately? Self-imposed word warring. I set my timer and pretend I'm writing against everyone else. Did nearly 1800 words that way yesterday. It kept me on point when all I wanted to do was hit Tumblr and look at pics of my movie and tv boyfriends.

That's a hard one - usually it's the other way around. But try this one on for size:

:D

Actually, if you want some of the best Spock EVER WRITTEN OF EVER (and don't mind that it's a WIP that will likely never be finished), then try this one on for size:

Also, there's plenty of the UST in this one, all the way around: http://archiveofourown.org/works/55410

And oh yeah, this one:

http://archiveofourown.org/series/18341

It's the same story, told first from Jim's POV, then from Spock's. The Jim one's great, romantic even, but the Spock one will devastate you.

And this: http://archiveofourown.org/works/131027

AU where Spock is a police detective; the UST is epic until they get together, then you get standard Jim-is-fucked-up stuff, but it's all good. Also, tremendous H/C. This is one of those fandom must-reads, for sure

Hmmm. Bomer in a checked shirt, not plaid. Braking the mold.

For fun and inspiration, check out Warner Archives and titles/plots of their old old movies. Of course, an early crush has just been released on DVD, Sugarfoot.

Get lost in the memories.

*hugs* Yeah, when that was me a few days ago you reminded me that I'd written a lot and my brain just needed a break to recharge--same with yours. I look forward to whatever your muse comes up with after its nap.

*hugs* I know that feeling well, and I'm so sorry that you're going through it now. I wish there was something that I could do to help - just know that I'm here if you want to talk or hash out ideas or discuss the firefighter Neal pics or anything else. :)

Isn't that the worst? I've just gotten out of a heavy brainfreeze. I suggest watching Psych. The humor tossed me out of my funk and I got back on to the writing frenzy last night. Good luck!

Staring at that Bonus Bomer will either inspire you or turn your brain to mush. Either way, it's worth it.

Don't make yourself write - it's the worst thing you can do and the words always come out looking a hell of a lot like faeces. Just wait and watch :)
