A Brief Whine

I've had a really, really good run of it the past six weeks. The Pairings fic, my Peter!Whump fic, a bunch of timestamps and other fics.
And yesterday and today, I've hit a wall.
I know I need to take my own advice and give my brain a break. Which I think I'll do tonight. But I wanna write. I've got terrific prompts from my flist for timestamps - working on two of them now. Also have the Big Bangs, other really solid story ideas. Plus a new idea that I'm actually a little reluctant to write about, because it involves some nasty current events (which I may write and hold on to, if I can't get the plot bunny out of my brain).
It's just that it's very quiet at the office and it would have been a perfect day to get lost in fic. Oh, well. Can't have everything, now, can we.
I know the muse will come back - maybe tomorrow, maybe over the weekend. Just need to give myself a break.
And for the promised Bonus Bomer...

You're right, give your brain a break and bask in the glory of all the awesometastic ficcage you've written lately (some of which I still need to read! MEEP!). *pets poor Elr's brain*
Not that I wouldn't cheerlead and throw juicy carrots at your plunnehs and whatever to keep you going. *g*

Date: 2013-07-24 07:37 pm (UTC)But you're right - my brain does need a break. BTW - did you get a chance to read the timestamp I wrote for your prompt?

Date: 2013-07-24 07:42 pm (UTC)I DID NOT RECEIVE ANY NOTIFICATION ABOUT ANY TIMESTAMP! DAMMIT, LJ! *shakes fist*
Thanks for letting me know! *runs to hunt it down*

Date: 2013-07-24 07:39 pm (UTC)We're often so work-driven (even when that "work" is writing) that we feel too guilty to give ourselves a break to recharge batteries. I say stow the guilt and just have a nice day off. Go back and reread one of your favorite stories (or two or three, if you have time). Who knows? Maybe it'll inspire you when you do go back to the keyboard.

Date: 2013-07-24 08:17 pm (UTC)But I have to remember that my recent period of fecundity was preceded by a few days where I didn't write a damn thing, deliberately. So I'm hoping this will help!

Date: 2013-07-24 11:57 pm (UTC)Actually, if you want some of the best Spock EVER WRITTEN OF EVER (and don't mind that it's a WIP that will likely never be finished), then try this one on for size:

It's the same story, told first from Jim's POV, then from Spock's. The Jim one's great, romantic even, but the Spock one will devastate you.

Date: 2013-07-24 08:42 pm (UTC)AU where Spock is a police detective; the UST is epic until they get together, then you get standard Jim-is-fucked-up stuff, but it's all good. Also, tremendous H/C. This is one of those fandom must-reads, for sure

Date: 2013-07-24 07:54 pm (UTC)For fun and inspiration, check out Warner Archives and titles/plots of their old old movies. Of course, an early crush has just been released on DVD, Sugarfoot.
Get lost in the memories.
