Meme: Date Me (Year Two)
Mar. 8th, 2012 09:42 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
My second anniversary in fandom is here!
Well, to be completely accurate, it it either just passed or is tomorrow - so I'm splitting the difference. You see, my first fandom post (and go read it if you want a laugh at my expense) occured on February 26, 2010 and my very first fanfic was published on March 9, 2010.
For the second year, I want to celebrate this dubiously momementous occasion much in the same way I celebrated my first anniversary (and the way I expect to celebrate all my fandom anniversaries).
I would like everyone on my flist to pick a two dates between February 26, 2011 and March 7, 2012, and ask me about what I posted that day and why. I am asking for two dates in case one of the days you pick (which should be at random - don't look at my calendar) was a date that I did not post anything. If you're lucky, you may pick a date with multiple postings! If both dates are empty, I'll let you know, and if both dates have postings, I'll comment on both!
You may get some DVD commentary out of it, or a reassessment on a life issue, or something altogether completely different.

Date: 2012-03-08 05:48 pm (UTC)Cool...let me check.
No post on September 16th.
But two on February 19th!
I posted a slightly belated Valentine's Day fic:
What It Feels To Be Complete, wherein Neal has the v-day blues, until he discovers an unexpected present. This was a short ficlet I wrote on V-day for my dear friend
The second post of the day was an update on the progress of The Bracelet (which I finished on Monday).
Thank you so much for playing!

Date: 2012-03-12 05:24 pm (UTC)Also, I hadn't realized just how much effort it took to make that bracelet. I hope you find something you can do with it, now that its done.

Date: 2012-03-12 05:27 pm (UTC)That story was a lot of fun, thank you for reading it. I'm not a fan of V-day or v-day fics, tbh, but I had been given a comment fic and got bitten by the plot bunnies when returning the favor.
The bracelet can be worn - but only for special occasions, when I don't have to use my hands alot. And it makes a pretty ornament on my dresser.

What did you post on those days? Why?

Date: 2012-03-08 04:27 pm (UTC)I remember that I had dinner at Peter Luger's with my sister and some friends, and I wasn't so drunk on alcohol but good food (lobster, then peacan pie mitt schlag) and great company.
August 14, 2011:
Two Entries:
Three Chapters in an Epic Never Written, the first part of my uber-angsty Tim/Matt RPS series.
My Day on a White Collar Location Shoot, which was actually a pimpage to the post I made on White Collar Fixation. I had spent the day hanging out in front of the Bowery Hotel, waiting for someone to come down. Willie did and gave a shoutout, and four hours later, Tim did (and I still need to hit my bunk in memory - he was in a tight t-shirt and jeans). They were filming the Gordon Taylor scenes (the pool game and the forging of the baseball) from Stealing Home.

Date: 2012-03-08 09:39 pm (UTC)1. I reposed a cute editorial cartoon from the NYT
2. An update for the Grand Master Mozzie Mini-Slashfest
3. The fic "Intermezzo" which is the last entry I wrote for the 'SPQR verse. I really should finish that, shouldn't I?
May 15 will definitely get you some MMOM-y goodness
The entry was "Cool Metal"

Date: 2012-03-08 09:53 pm (UTC)But fuck, what's SPQR? I suck with titles. Even more with abbreviated titles. ;-)

Date: 2012-03-08 10:02 pm (UTC)The SPQR refers to the initials of Peter's alias - Sebastian Pytor Quinnell Rubicov, and "SPQR" was tattooed on all his submissives' asses.
No one ever really "got" the joke - SPQR stands for Senatus Populus Que Romanus (The Senate and the People of Rome) - which was carved into all of the great and petty monuments of the Republic.
Intermezzo was the last story I wrote - Neal didn't want to get his ass tattooed and Peter challenged him to come up with a good reason why. Neal said he was Jewish (my people have a cultural distaste for permanently marking the body) - and Peter challenged him on that. Neal replyed that he once masquaraded as a Yeshiva scholar to recover a Torah stolen by the Nazis.
How ironic is that?

Date: 2012-03-08 10:06 pm (UTC)I didn't know that about the tattoos and Judaism. Is that very orthodox or a more mainstream rule upheld by the majority?

Date: 2012-03-08 09:50 pm (UTC)July 14 was a two post day, but the posts weren't particularly interesting. I was on day 17 of the 30 Days of Fanfic meme, wherein I managed to expound for 500 words on how I title my stories. The other post was an update for one of the promptfests.
And isn't that a yummy pic? He looks like a bird of prey there.

Mozzie loves the long con. The kind that requires precision planning, guile and not to mention a little luck to succeed.
Since Neal came back from prison and The Suit came into their lives the cons have been more of the, ahem, federal kind.
Not tonight though.
Several months ago Mozzie had casually mentioned to Neal that the McCartney collection was going to be on display at the American Ballet Theatre. Both Neal and Mozzie knew that Cecil Hollick, the South African financier, had a hard-on for McCartney's whimsical painting "No Fireflies in Colorado". The former Beatle's paintings weren't for sale, which of course, made them priceless.
So, the con really began when Elizabeth mentioned over dinner that Burke Premiere Events would be the planner for the gala event. While Neal hated using El, Mozzie had more resistance built up for Mrs. Suit's charms. It didn't hurt that "The Greatest Cake" had secured the talents of one of the best bakers on the East Coast. It also didn't hurt that Neal met him in prison and the man needed a job.
Neal worked during the days with Peter. Mozzie worked during the days on planning to steal the painting.
During the evenings they planned the con. Neal had already forged the McCartney. He took great pleasure in embedding "Paul is Dead" in the blades of grass.
Because of all the planning the switch actually went smoothly. Neal was never out of Peter's sight dancing with various elderly, rich ballet patrons. In fact Caffery could have quite the career as a walker after his stint at the FBI. Mozzie, however, had a window of opportunity between delivering the little cakes that were pre-set on the table and taking out the boxes in which the cakes arrived. One of those boxes held the McCartney.
When Mozzie and Neal met up at June's after the event they turned out the lights, set the McCartney on the easel lit with just the lights of the Chrysler Building, opened a bottle of expensive wine, rolled a joint and danced on the balcony like the veteran cosmic rockers they were in their hearts.

Let's see what is on the board for July 18, 2011:
It was a three day catchup entry for the "Thirty Days of Fanfic" meme, wherein I waxed on and off about my sources of inspiration.
