I normally feel lukewarm about KidFic, and tend to despise it when it's kids from a pairing I dislike. Canonical Neal/Sara doesn't bug me *quite* as much as, say, Sam&Jack from "Stargate SG-1", or a bazillion instances of TWIC* shoving in a "BotW"** to defuse any m/m vibe in too many "buddy" shows... but I've got almost NO interest in reading Neal/Sara in my fanfic. Yet this story worked, it was charming, funny, and left me wanting more.
* TWIC = "The Wankers In Charge", for when show-runners' f*ck-ups annoy to the point that "TPTB" seems more polite than they deserve. **BotW = "Bimbo Of The Week", one of the ways in which TWIC can f*ck up.
