Apparently, International Fanworks Day is a thing. The celebration is happening at Organization for Transformative Works (the previous link) and their noisy child, Archive of Our Own.
Who else knew about this? Was there any promotion of this anywhere outside of OTW/AO3? (I actually read about it on The Mary Sue, but nowhere else).
I'm the first to admit that I really don't use AO3 to its fullest potential - the whole kudo'ing system and the lack of community kind of kills my joy in the archive, but I visit it most days. You'd have thought that there would have been banners on AO3 announcing the event, but the only banner I've seen is the one about signups and spam.
Oh, well. Maybe next year.
In the mean time, White Collar Promptfest IX is off to an excellent start. I'm in the middle of a fill but have made the tallies for Day One. Once I finish the fill, I'll post the fic count (which is awesome, btw).
If you haven't taken a peek, come on over. There's a lot of brand-new ficcage waiting to be read. And many prompts that need to be filled, if you're in the mood for writing. And even if you're not interested in writing, just stop by and cheer the writers on if you have time.
