Day 18 - A Photo With A Road/Street Sign In It

October, 2013
Locust Valley, New York

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Last October, when my dearest [livejournal.com profile] sinfulslasher was visiting, we drove past "Bread and Cheese Hollow Road", and she commented on the unusual name. I laughed and said, "Oh, that's nothing. I went to day camp near Skunk's Misery Road." She didn't believe that such a road existed.

I needed to prove that to her. And I did.

This awesome meme is ganked from my friend [livejournal.com profile] embroiderama, and like [livejournal.com profile] sinfulslasher, I have some ovine tendancies, too.

The Days:
1. Something old
2. Something new - talk about a new fanwork of yours
3. Something you made for someone else
4. Something you made just for yourself
5. Something for a large fandom/pairing/character
6. Something for a small fandom/pairing/character
7. Something you're just really proud of

Something You Made For Someone Else

I often write for my friends – birthday fic, memes, timestamps, promptfests and a lot of stories that I’m really proud of have happened because I want to make someone else happy. If no one minds, I’d like to talk about a few different fics.

The first time I wrote a fic was for someone was for the inestimable [livejournal.com profile] daria234, one of my earliest LJ friends. This was also the first time I wrote Mozzie-fic. She asked for Peter, Mozzie and Neal discussing Shakespeare, of all things!

That story became Never Underestimate the Suit, where Mozzie revels in the idea of Titus Andronicus performed at New York City’s Shakespeare in the Park festival.

The first time I wrote birthday fic was for [livejournal.com profile] asimaiyat, and it also happens to be a Mozzie-centric story. Written in 2010, it well predates Mozzie’s origin story (and is completely jossed by Dentist of Detroit), but it does somewhat accurately predict the etymology of his nickname. I give you, Names Have Power.

The third story I’m promoting here wasn’t written for a person, precisely (although I did gift it to [livejournal.com profile] angelita26 for her birthday). It was written for the 2014 [community profile] poetry_fiction Ted Kooser challenge. I was given a fragment of poetry and asked to write a piece of short fiction to it.

The Lost and Found is something of an experimental piece. You don’t know who the protagonist is until the end, he’s just a man lost and travelling with no desire to be anywhere but on the open road.
