I know I've been kind of quiet lately. Or at least it feels that way, even though I've barely had a day without a post on LJ. But there hasn't been a lot of fanfic (again, it feels that way but my archive tells me that I've published two new longish stories in the last ten days, plus a few chapters of Danger'verse, plus a republishing of another story).

It just feels like I have been been writing anything - and that's actually sort of true. I've been blocked by how the season ended, the 2.16 tag I wrote not withstanding (the Neal/Sara story was mostly written before UTR aired).

I've also been trying to get my "epic" done - and I am pleased to say that almost all of the hard work is finished. There's still about 8 - 10k left in the story, but after 4 months, I am delighted to say that the ending is fully in sight. I suspect it will top out at around 70k (it's 61k now), and I'm going to publish one or two chapters a week.

There are other stories percolating - I've got my Queensland Relief stories to finish, plus the Remix I signed up for. The good news for the QRF stories is that I know where I'm going with all of them.

BUT - and this is a big BUT (sort of like the one that's in my chair right now) - I have a newsletter I have to write and mail (snail mail, guh) within the next ten days - so the fanfic is going to have to take a back seat to the pleasure of writing about Egyptian Revival in Art Deco Era porcelain. Yeah...it's a real thing. Since I need to get that out the door by the first week in April, I've got to spend some quality time on it this week and next. I like doing this newsletter - but I like writing fan fic more.

In other news...I'm still blocked from LJ at work - but my iPad (which I had purchased expressly for accessing LJ at work) is a lifesaver. But it does have limitations, which is probably the Number One reason for the lack of daytime postings.

And still, the Single Sentence Challenge Promptfest rolls on, with no ending in sight. We are now on the third post for the fest, there are almost 3900 comments and over 1000 fills. If you ever have felt the urge to write, but don't know where to get started, this is a good place. It's remarkably easy to tell a whole story in a single sentence - and a lot of fun. My dearest co-moderator, [livejournal.com profile] coffeethyme4me has written 150 sentences for 150 prompts (give or take), and her word count is over 12,000. This fest is going to keep on rolling along for another week or so (all good things do come to an end), and April 1 is probably a good (and auspicious) day to shove a stake in the ground. This fest is (like all fests), closed to just my flist for the writing duration, but will be opened up for reading by the general public after it ends.

What else, what else my dear flist? Don't forget to check out White Collar Fixation on Tuesday evenings - I have a regular column there, "Thinky Thoughts on Seminal Scenes," and I am going episode by episode. This week, Threads is under the microscope, particulary the way it establishes the relationship between Elizabeth and Peter. I should say - you should be checking out WCF every day, for all the White Collar News and pictures and pic spam and fan fic recommendations you'll ever need.

*HUGS* You're still the most prolific writer in fandom. I don't remember the last time I put up that many stories in a week, and I can't imagine thinking of that as 'slow.' But then, you are Super Woman on here (and everywhere you go, I get the impression.)

Sorry that the work situation hasn't resolved. :/ Do you think it will or is this a permanent thing now that you can't get on LJ there?

Oh no, not lots and lost of (mega-hot) sex!

If you ask me, that's one rocking plan B.

That definitely sounds like a good plan B. Fics don't have to be episode or canon related. I know very few of my fics have anything to do with canon events, lol. Of course, I don't write anything with a plot, and it's just character/pairing pieces, but those have their place too. :)

*hugs* have missed you :) but I know you're really busy and trying to write so much!

Have fun with your other newsletter <3 maybe focusing on something else for awhile will get you writing the way you want to again.

though I agree with [livejournal.com profile] afiawri that you are one of the most prolific writers I've known and definitely in our fandom so you are still posting plenty <3

Now I feel bad for complaining that there wasn't more fanfic. I hate when RL intrudes. Your work is the stuff I come back to again and again when I need a hot sexy fanfic fix. There are others who I found aren't too bad either, but your stuff is the tops! or bottoms! depending on your mood! (sorry I couldn't resist *snort*

I keep thinking about either trying my hand at the single sentence prompt fest or maybe even trying to get the fic that is floating around in my head out on paper. If, as I suspect, I am without internet and cable at home until Thursday or Friday night, this might be the time to sit down and write some of these ideas down.

I agree with photoash, sometimes having to work on other things lets ideas marinate in the back of your brain and when you can get back to them, you have all these juicy ideas to go with.

Good luck with everything!

Trust me, I know what I can create and there is one particular story that I still cringe whenever I think about it. But I guess I could call it crackfic! Back then it was just bad writing! This is the first time I've actually posted a link to it. It is Lois & Clark (Terry Hatcher and Dean Cain) fanfic. http://www.lcfanfic.com/stories/pinkblue.txt I think we were sleep deprived, I wish I could say we were drunk when we wrote this. LOL

If you are really feeling masochistic http://www.lcfanfic.com/author_p.htm#PuthoffMichelle. I did win an award for Best Deathfic for Because You Loved Me! Which is a songfic on top of everything else. Seesh! There is an adult story somewhere, but I'm not entirely sure where.

A writing lull is difficult, even when you're so prolific, maybe especially then, because there's SO MUCH to go dry! But you haven't gone dry. You're wet and lush and practically VERDANT in what you've written. I think you should gather all your sentences together. Then you'll truly see what you've accomplished.

ILU!!!

:-D

Don't ever complain about the amount of fic you write. I haven't posted a fic since February. I wanted to tell you (and rabid and coffee) for the sentence fest. I haven't been able to post anything because I have been out of my mind with grad school and I have like 5 or 6 six WIPs that i am really struggling with and I can't write anything new until I finish them. The sentence fest is at least distracting me from everything else, so Thank you.

Cheerleading, here! You can do eet! Write what you want when you want, and when you go back to those WIPs, they'll be better for it. This usually works for me.

Well, I feel you. I am so blocked lately (though now I know what to write for the Remix...mwah ha ha). It's all outlined too, except IDK how to end it. ANd then I owe you for QLR too. It is time for me to do the whole write or die thing and pound out 1000 words a night until I get back into the groove - it's worked before.

But losing my pc for so long really threw me for a loop, I think, creatively. However, looking at all my fills for the Sentence Prompt game, it's at 142 fills and ~6700 words, so I guess I have been writing...

Well, it's been a great WC day with all the set photos (the sea of Neals and then fencing, Mozzie red car) that ups the excitement level, and, of course the Glenlivet event. How does Matt get invited to stuff like this, LOL! The kilt fantasies will keep us busy for weeks.
