Summary: Obi-Wan Kenobi has never known it, but he has always been the Force’s Champion, destined to suffer infinite sadness in defense of the Light. On his last turn on the wheel, responsibility for The Chosen One, the false child of prophecy, had been thrust upon him with no warning, and Darkness held the upper hand.

But this time, the Force has marshaled its power and will protect its Champion until the time is right, no matter how long Obi-Wan has to wait and how much he has to suffer.

Or,

Obi-Wan is reborn as a twelve-year old.

He wakes up on a slavers’ ship, with all of his prior life’s memories intact, and he’s bound for Tatooine with a Force-inhibitor collar around his neck, a bomb implanted in his spine, and no way of knowing what state of the Galaxy is in.

Just another day in the life of the Force’s Champion.

Chapter Summary: Mace gets some interesting news from Vokara Che, Master Dooku heads back to Mandalore and is at peace with the death of his last padawan. On the legal front, the Trade Federation makes an offer to Queen Amidala that’s impossible to resist, which just might settle the Nabooians’ case against them. And it looks like Obi-Wan will be going undercover, investigating the clinic when Bail Prestor is detoxing.

What could go wrong?

351,607 words, 63 chapters

When I started writing this, I kind of spitballed the total wordcount with my enabler in chief, Kyele. And the number I kept circling around was 350k. It didn’t seem insurmountable or illogical or unreasonable. I knew this was going to be a huge story with a broad scope, bigger than anything I’d ever written before. And while I’d spent some time in The Flash fandom, which has canonical time travelers and 75 years of canon across comics and television and now movies, I had only been interested in the DCTV a/k/a Arrowverse side of things, so Star Wars is really my first truly huge mega-fandom, and this is my first attempt and writing a major fix-it.

And so, this week, I crossed the that mystical line and I’m going to tell you, I’m nowhere near the finish line. The plot has progressed significantly, but this isn’t a four-act play. The story has a ways to go because changing a timeline is like turning around a battleship, it doesn’t turn on a dime.

So let’s just say, I’m hoping to finish the writing by the end of the year.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

The next few chapters are a little bit of a divergence from the main story. A side-quest if you will. Remember how I said that Bail’s story would be coming back into focus soon, I’m keeping my promise.

I’m also indulging my love for writing case-fic. I spent too many years in the White Collar fandom, then in Kingsman, and the pull of writing a tiny little mystery with near-villains was impossible to resist. But first, I have to deal with Anakin and Padmé and the Trade Federation trial.

I did a lot of build-up, and there was a lot of drama. Poor Qui-Gon nearly got murdered, evil Komari did get murdered. Skeevy Sheev got himself 'letrocuted (and we don’t know where he is). But it all fell kind of flat. The Trade Federation just caved.

Why? Because I realized I had a choice. I could pull out the Law & Order stops and spend the next 50k writing a boring civil trial that will end up in the same place as the 3k of civil negotiations just did. And there are pieces moving behind the scenes, you know that, right?

And also, I wanted to get Padmé pregnant. Or rather, Anakin has gotten Padmé pregnant, I just wanted to let you all know about that.
