Round Two of the Book Cover Meme, still ganked with love and gratitude from

"Choose 20 books that have stayed with you or influenced you. 1 book per day for 20 days, in no particular order. no explanations, no reviews: just covers."

Check the first comment to see if I can’t resist adding a bit of commentary. This time around, I think I’m rarely going to resist that urge.

Fred Saberhagen, a whole bunch of fantasy writers had vampires as heroes, and of course, Anne Rice. And in the pages of Fantasy and Science Fiction Magazine, there was a very brief review of Path of the Eclipse, which was set in China! I really wanted to read it, but I couldn't find it in my local bookstore and it wasn't in my local library, either.
But when I was on a class trip to Gettysburg, I found it on the spinny rack in the motel's gift shop! Of all places!

Date: 2025-04-28 02:27 pm (UTC)Yes, it was definitely fashionable. There was a whole litany of authors who dissed the ficcers and thought themselves cool. And then had to walk it back. Yarbro, Gabeldon, a few others whose names escape me. I do recall that JKR was once lauded for telling WB to stop prosecuting the fic writers who weren't monetizing their works. Now, the bitch needs to be burned at the stake.
