Summary: Obi-Wan Kenobi has never known it, but he has always been the Force’s Champion, destined to suffer infinite sadness in defense of the Light. On his last turn on the wheel, responsibility for The Chosen One, the false child of prophecy, had been thrust upon him with no warning, and Darkness held the upper hand.
But this time, the Force has marshaled its power and will protect its Champion until the time is right, no matter how long Obi-Wan has to wait and how much he has to suffer.
Or,
Obi-Wan is reborn as a twelve-year old.
He wakes up on a slavers’ ship, with all of his prior life’s memories intact, and he’s bound for Tatooine with a Force-inhibitor collar around his neck, a bomb implanted in his spine, and no way of knowing what state of the Galaxy is in.
Just another day in the life of the Force’s Champion.
Chapter Summary: At first, it seems as if Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan are about to embark on their first mission, but the High Council quickly squashes that hope flat. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan are temporarily separated for the sake of diplomacy and neither master nor padawan are happy about this.
What’s the worst that could happen? Obi-Wan gets to spend some quality time with his great-grandmaster and Qui-Gon does what he does best, solving the Galaxy’s problems by following the Will of the Force.
Everything should work out just fine.

As always, I am deeply grateful for all the love you’ve given this story, the outpouring of comments on the last chapter - the guessing on where the story is heading - makes me so very happy.
Even slower progress this week. I feel like I’ve hit a brick wall. I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I want to write. I have the words in my head, but they don’t want to manifest themselves on the page. I might have to jump around a bit - write some fun stuff and come back to these hard parts.
210,070 words, 41 chapters
Even though this is the longest chapter I’ve posted so far, I don’t have a lot of thinky thoughts about this week’s offering.
After last week’s fluffy chapter, this week has a bit of tension.
Sending Qui-Gon off to Felucia is a particularly cruel bit of torture for Obi-Wan, something I hadn’t planned when I wrote that scene in the end of Chapter Two (between Qui-Gon and Anakin before they leave for Naboo). But I do love to torture my characters.

Obi-Wan does a good job of telling the High Council to get fucked, but not exactly using those words. The young Negotiator is beginning to come into his own. We have some lovely Reva and Obi-Wan content, and some Bruck and Obi-Wan content, and some Siri and Obi-Wan content. Plus some surprise Plo and Obi-Wan content.
And of course, Yoda and Obi-Wan. Can’t forget about the two massively midi-chlorian blessed Jedi getting it on like a house on fire over tea and biscuits.
All these people are important to Obi-Wan in the Temple. The kid’s building the support system he so desperately needs. He also really needs some time with a good mind-healer. He’s got a metric fuck-ton of issues, doesn’t he?
Over-Used "Gundark" Metaphor Counter

Can I make a bit of a self-rec here? You might remember that for much of late July and early August, I’d taken a bit of a hiatus on this story to write my Star Wars SmutWars exchange fic. Well, the authors have finally been revealed and my recipient is very (very!) happy with it. It’s a little unusual for me, in that the central character (per my recipient’s request) is Lando Calrissian, a character I'd never written or thought about writing. But in one of her requests, she paired Lando with Obi-Wan and Luke, a pairing I’ve been longing to write, so I refused to default. I really did have a lot of of fun with this little story (it’s little by my standards).
It’s a GFFA AU where Obi-Wan had left the Order after killing Palpatine when he discovered that the creep was abusing Anakin. Luke is not a Jedi, but Lando is.
Not going to say much more about it, but if you’re intrigued, you can find the story here: You Make Loving Fun.

I hope you’re enjoying the story and I look forward to your comments, both here if you’re Dreamwidth members and on AO3.
