The Sea Air. And a Meme

So, I stepped out to get some lunch today and was greated by the scents of autumn.

And the ocean.

I suppose that sounds a little strange - I live and work on Long Island, and relatively speaking, I'm never all that far from large bodies of water (Long Island Sound, the Great South Bay, the Atlantic Ocean). And yet, as close as they are, I rarely perceive their presence unless I'm right on top of them. But today was a little different. There's a strong south easterly wind blowing up, and my office is, as the crow flies, about seven miles from the Great South Bay. The air was scented with pine and decaying leaves and the clean, briney smell of the ocean. It was lovely. I wish I could bottle it.
