elrhiarhodan: (All My Toes)

I've been reading a lot of year-end fic wrap-ups - and I am amazed at the utter prolific-ness of my flist. I am so proud of all of you. Wow - just, like wow.

A few thoughts ...

I'd like to set up a few comms. I may have already done a poll on this, but I'm going to ask you all for your opinion again.

The first is a recommendation comm - which I would make opened to all. I know people like to post their recs on their own journals, and I'm hoping that people who do that would consider cross-posting to a White Collar Rec Comm. I seem to remember that there was a closed WC rec community, but I haven't seen a posting from that in a while.

The second is a resurrection comm - a place where writers can post fics that the thought didn't get any attention the first time around. Because, hey - we all have those. It would also be a place for writer to announce modifications to fics already published.

The third is a comm just for posting links to your master fic list and updates thereto. Because Master Fic Lists are important. So other people can find your stuff and read it.

Other things of note.

I've discovered something wonderful. And it's not got anything to do with White Collar. And while it's found in the supermarket, it has no positive or negative nutritional value.

Polar Flavored Seltzers...where have you been all my life? When I was in college, I developed an unhealthy addiction to Polar Orange Dry - the poor man's Orangina. But it wasn't sugar free, and it gave me serious heartburn to boot. And when I relocated to Philadelphia for law school, I moved out of Polar's marketspace (they're based in Wooster, MA).

I had head and neck radiation for Hodgkin's Disease over a dozen years ago and it did a number on my taste buds. Since then, I had to give up drinking anything with artificial sweetener (put it this way - it tastes like licking aluminum foil), and I've never liked sugared (or HFCS'd) sodas (I also can't drink complex white wines and very dark chocolate). So, I either drink water or seltzer (that's club soda to those of you who aren't of the Tribe) if I'm not drinking unsweetened tea or coffee. I usually avoid seltzer in cans, because I find it tastes like the can. But a few weeks back, I was in Fairway, dithering over expensive bottle of a juice drink when my eyes were caught by some moderately attractive packaging for my old friend, Polar Orange Dry. Looking a little further, I saw boxes of flavored seltzers from Polar - wonderfully interesting flavors like Pomegranate and Raspberry Lime and Black Cherry and Cranberry Lime. They were on sale, and I bought a couple of cartons. If I didn't like them, I'd leave them for my office mates.

Well, let me tell you - it was like discovering Nirvana. You have the illusion of sweetness, with out the sweetness. Delicious and refreshing and I sound like a freakin' commercial. Anyway - if you live in the Northeast and are looking for something new to enjoy - I highly recommend these insanely delicious and NO CALORIE beverages.

I'm still working on the epic, which is about to do a Caesar and cross the 40k Rubicon. With maybe 7k to go after that. The thing is, it's a freaky story that maybe five people will read. But you know what - I don't care. I write because it pleases me.

Promptfest V is in the planning stages, and I'm considering start dates. I had tentatively planned to start it the week before the S2.5 premier, and let it run until the week afterward. But I'm going to go out to Chicago the weekend before and I'm worried that if I'm not able to keep up the cheer leading, interest will fade. Two weeks after that - I'm going completely off the LJ grid and heading out to Tuscon for the gem shows, so that's no good either. Your thinky thoughts on this, please. And note - promptfest is, as always, flocked during the writing period, but there's no pre-qual period, so as long as you've friended me, the posting's opened for you.

And I'm offering prizes again. Something I hope people find really, really cool. I'm not telling you what it is, but it will be a one of a kind item.

Ummm - I guess that's about it.

Back to writing, peeps. I love you all.

Don't forget to leave me your input - on the timing of Promptfest and whether you would be interested in the proposed new comms.
