I voted by absentee ballot. I'm glad to avoid the long lines, but it feels weird not to be going to my polling place today.
This made me cry in a good way: So Many Women Put ‘I Voted’ Stickers on Susan B. Anthony’s Grave That the Cemetery Is Staying Open Late on Election Night (http://nymag.com/thecut/2016/11/susan-b-anthonys-grave-will-be-open-until-the-polls-close.html). Aunt Susan is my #1 hero.
Filled with existential dread at the moment. Feel like I'm seconds from hurling.
Voted at 6:40 AM, and while there wasn't a line (small suburban elementary school), every polling booth was filled and I had a few minute wait for check-in and then to fill out my ballot.
Most interesting, I was #57 in my school board district (this polling place has eight different school board districts) - I've voted after work and have been #12, so yeah - it was exciting that in my tiny district (about 600 voters), 10% had already voted within the first 45 minutes.
Working the polls and we were slammed from 6AM to 9AM Over 25% of voters in this district showed in this time period. It has been steady all day. And I voted too!!
It's still way too early for it to "stick," but for the moment, Texas is blue. I'm not holding my breath on it staying blue, ultimately, but I love that it's at least "flickering."
I'm soooo hoping we tonight with our first "Madam President" -- I even went and bought the OPI nail polish in that name today for extra good luck! LOL!!

Date: 2016-11-08 02:00 pm (UTC)I kept waking up last night, thinking that there was something I needed to do. Something really important.
Wonder what that was all about.
In theory, I like the idea of early voting, but in reality, I like to vote on Election Day.

Date: 2016-11-08 04:04 pm (UTC)I voted last week and got all emotional about it. I'm glad it's almost over but I'm more than a little scared to see the result.
