Not quite Shelob. But the garden where I photographed this was filled with spiders about this size. Good thing I don’t have arachnophobia!

Thank you - I had tried to get the web in focus, too, but there wasn't enough contrast. You can see a bit of it in lower-left part of the picture.

Cringe! We have spiders about this size where I live most of the year, although they lack the interesting pattern this guy has on its legs!

I love this shot! The colors and depth of field here are amazing, and I love that you can even see parts of the web! =)

I was hanging out in my friend's garden, trying to photograph some raindrops and suddenly, SPIDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But it's a very photogenic one, you have to admit.

It is! And I don't even mind spiders all that much (as long as they leave me alone *g*) so the photo didn't freak me out. *g*

Oh yes, the subtle effect of the web is wonderful....

Have to admit, it doesn't look all that big to me but the colouring is lovely. (Australian here. Have had huntsman spiders in the house a few times. In car which nearly got me running off the road and killed a couple of times. Then again, have had redbacks and whitetails in the potting shed. So so small, but waaaayyy more dangerous)
