Can't really explain this malaise that's dogging me today, but when I almost started shouting at the idiots who've been commenting on the New York Times to "READ THE FUCKING ARTICLE," I think it's time for a change of mental scenery.

How is near-August in Paris treating you?

Hey, it's not too bad. Well, no worse than usual. Except for the heat. We're having a canicule, with temps in the 90s today and tomorrow. It's not quite as bad (touch wood) as 10 years ago, since it cools down more at night than it did in that awful summer. Also, I learned then to always have a backup fan - I expect the motor on this one to give out any minute. I'm asking a lot of it!

Aside from that, workworkwork. The Vuitton City Guide has reorganized and consequently is a total clusterfuck this year, plus I have two other books to finish by summer's end. I've been to the Proms once, and have two more trips booked in August.

Now to check the comments here again and see if any more goodies have come in. I hope they are cheering you up, dear heart.
