I need hugs

It's only 10:20 am and I am having a really, really bad day. On top of the emotional turmoil from this weekend (going through my dad's paperwork).

I need hugs.

"Peter, sweetie, wake up."

Peter shifted on the bed, burrowing deeper into the pillows with a grunt.

Soft fingers carded through his sleep tousled hair. "Sweetie," the voice persisted. "I really need you to wake up. We've got a request and Neal and I think you're the perfect one to deal with it."

He unconsciously pushed into the touch but refused to open his eyes. The fingers tightened and tugged and growled unhappily. "You two kept me up until 1am, El. Have some pity on an old man."

A warm, masculine chuckle sounded from across the room. "He's got you there, El. He isn't exactly..."

"Finish that sentence, Caffrey, and you're sleeping with Satch for the rest of the week," Peter threatened without real heat. He slitted open his eyes and drank in the sight of their lover standing in the doorway of the bedroom clad only in dark silk boxers. He rolled over and smiled up at his wife. She smiled back, leaning in to press a gentle kiss against his lips, her dark blue robe opening to reveal a tantalizing glimpse of soft, pale breast.

Peter reached out and pulled her closer, deepening the kiss as she settled against him with a contented sigh. He felt the bed dip as Neal settled beside them, curling up close and just watching. Peter couldn't help but wonder if he'd find another Caffrey original tucked between his shirts some morning, or maybe tacked to the inside of one of the kitchen cabinets just waiting to be discovered. Peter had known Neal was skilled, but his originals were breathtaking, though having a nude El as a subject didn't hurt.

He reluctantly broke the kiss with El and offered her a knowing smile. "So, was this why you needed me awake?" He smirked as his hand slid lower, cupping El's beautiful backside. "You both didn't get enough last night?"

El smacked his bare shoulder, scowling down at him even as Neal laughed. "No, Mr. Ego," she teased. "Someone's having a horrible day and could really use a hug and well," she paused and gave him a soft smile, "you give the best healing hugs around."

Peter chuckled, reaching out and snagging Neal, pulling him close. "So I give the best hugs, huh?" he asked, turning to look at their young lover.

Neal just smiled and nodded.

"The things I do for you two," he grumbled good naturedly. He wrapped an arm around each of them and tugged them close. "So where is this poor soul that needs a healing hug?"

They both pointed and Peter smiled at the frazzled looking person standing quietly in the shadows. He extracted an arm from around Neal and motioned for the silent figure to come closer. Neal shifted over, making room and El nodded encouragingly. Peter caught the other's hand and tugged her into the warmth of the bed, wrapping strong arms around her and pressing a light kiss to the top of her head. Neal snuggled in behind her, wrapping an arm around her and taking the opportunity to tickle Peter's ribs in the process, earning him a smack to his hip. He chuckled unrepentantly as El propped herself up to look over Peter's bare shoulder.

"Behave, Neal," she cautioned.

"Where's the fun in that?"

Peter shook his head as his wife and their lover bickered playful over the top of them. "Sorry for the bad day, hon," he whispered into the woman's ear. "It'll get better. Until then, you're welcome to hide here with us as often as you need. Hugs are always free."

He hugged her tightly and closed his eyes, letting the familiar sounds of family and happiness wash over him. Things would work out, they always did. Until then, they had each other and that was more than enough.
