Thank you! Peter just looks and acts so happy as body slams Neal into a hug. Neal not so much, only a little smile and slightly sad. Hope you were able to get inches done on your beaded necklace on the 4th. Me, ended up with 8 hours OT,additional 2 on the 5th and for good measure 1 hour today. Thank God it is the weekend and no call; so I can stitch.

I agree that Neal seems far less enthusiastic than Peter. Peter's reaction is wonderful, it's like he's trying to squeeeeeeze the living daylights out of Neal :D Neal looks a little bit like he's in shock, I think the whole idea of not just Peter but the entire FBI finding him is crushing. But then again, we need the whole scene to see what happens just before the hug and right after :D

You know I watched that vid already on youtube at least a felt thousand times because I sooo love this scene, so thanks for the gif, I always wonder how do you make this stuff out of youtube-vids? But anyway, great gif!

I think Neal has to be reluctant, for him seeing Peter it's not only pleasure although with having stolen Peter's wallet by the kid and leading Peter to him, Neal knew that Peter would be happy to see him again after all those weeks.

But for Neal it means life on the island will be over and for what price? Anklet forever? Having to go to DC with Kramer? Having to go to prison forever? It's not that easy and I think Matt Bomer played this scene of reluctance and being glad of seeing Peter again so perfect. Of course I want to see this scene completely and I wonder if we get to see it in the first ep or in the second - waiting one more week will kill me! ;)

Of course Tim DeKay played the happiness perfect as well :) I just love those two :D - I think you can tell! ;)

I don't see Neal as being "unhappy" here, but it looks to me like uncertainty + love + trepidation. Heartbreaking. All the different expressions on Neal's face, plus, after a delay of uncertainty, the hand on Peter's back, the fingers slightly grippy. This is such a great example of why Matt is such an amazing actor. *sigh*

BTW, thanks for making a gif of this; the slow speed makes all those differing emotions even clearer.

I am always blown away by the complexity of emotion both of them can convey without a word: Peter's uncomplicated joy and Neal's reluctance/fear/relief/acceptance. They were made to work together (Peter/Neal and Tim/Matt). Thanks so much for posting this in a format that lets us study it at ridiculous length to wring every drop of nuance out of it.

That is SO wonderful. Peter's unbridled joy and the six or seven emotins Neal is feeling all in one gif. The bear hug and the reluctance to let go..thus the two pats on the arms afterward...just genius. Two very underrated actors.

This is such a perfect scene. It tells a story all by its own. Peter looks like a father who's just found his long lost son (or a man who found his lover,but that's just between us.) He is overwhelmed by the joy of it all and doesn't think any further. Neal however is obviously thinking seven moves ahead. In the first cut to his face after peter slam-hugs him we see the smile and the slight closing of his eyes, which indicates his happiness/relief. But then he must remember that this reunion doesn't change anything. That he can't go back and Peter can't stay. He's reminded of how this all is fleeting and so so temporary and his face shows his sadness. Also the hand he lifts to pat Peter's back seems like acquiescence to his fate.

This is the first time I believe a season to be the best one of the show and it hasn't even started.
