MMOM 2012 Round Up - A Little Mental Masturbation

The Messy Merry Month of Masturbation is over, and I'm not quite sure it was a rousing (or arousing) success for me. I don't think I'll be doing this challenge again - I just don't have another 31 days of wank!fic in me.



Technically, I did not complete the challenge under the prescribed rules. There were several days that I didn't write a fic, and the last five stories weren't finished until June 1 and 2nd. Not to justify my failure, there were a lot of obstacles in completing the challenge - work has been very busy, I've been stressed and distracted by house hunting and my imagination just totally gave out. I think about half of the fics I did publish were sparked by ideas by my dear friend coffeethyme4me.

Many of the remaining ficlets were coupled:

Push (Magnetic North) and Pull (Pressing Insight) were told from the first person POV. First Peter, then Neal.

Sticky (A Sticky Situation) and Indecent (Exposure) sent Diana to the ladies room to jill off after encountering the Burkes and Neal.

Thighs (Happy Birthday, Sara Ellis) and Back (Money Shot) were written in reverse order - because my lovely flist wanted to see Elizabeth make that porno.

Front (These Are the Ways of Holding On) and Fast/Slow (Bring Me Something Real) are linked.

Maybe it's because this is the third year that I'm doing MMOM (2010 had only 3 fics), but I feel like I've scraped the bottom of the creative barrel. Last year's stories seemed so much better, fresher and more original. And I really got the feeling that by the end of the month, almost everyone on my flist was just way too tired of seeing another story from me.

But for those who read and commented and let me know how much they enjoyed these stories, you have my deepest gratitude. Without your feedback and encouragement, I couldn't have written any of this.

All your fics seemed fresh and intriguing, but I can understand if the well feels like it's running low after all that work! Maybe by next May it will fill back up. I really have enjoyed these.

And also, I'm sorry I didn't comment on any of your MMOM fics -- but I didn't comment or read any other person's stories either. I hit points in my fic reading where I don't want to read about sex, and I'm at that point right now (have been at this point for a while now).

I had such good intentions of doing all 31 days, but that just wasn't in the cards for me. I'm so glad you were able to do it, though! But by day 20, I reached the "Ugh, ideas" place, so I know what you're talking about. It's a challenge to do it every single day!

I'm sloppy about commenting, but I was reading along (mostly; I missed days here and there and I have to still catch up from the weekend) and enjoying.
