Something Nice

I was cleaning up my desk in advance of some company tomorrow. It wasn't that bad - I had cleaned it a few weeks ago, and I turned my attention to some stuff on a small table behind me. There was an oldish jewelry bag - the faux velvet kind - from Fortunoffs (once, my very favorite store). Was about to stow it in one of the places where I stow things, but it felt like there was something in there. I pinched the bag, it was about the size of a dime.

You know, a dime's a dime. Except where it's the Star of David that your grandmother gave you when you turned 13 and haven't been able to locate in nearly 20 years.

That's wonderful! I love it when stuff like that happens - my mother had it happen to her once, and I've had it happen to a lesser degree.
Especially when it's kind of magical - you KNOW it couldn't POSSIBLY be right there, because you have some vague idea of where/how you lost it, but suddenly, five years later, it's IN YOUR DRAWER, and you just KNOW that it came back to you through a hole in the time-space continuum and the power of LOVE or some such! <3 :D

I remember how upset I had been when I couldn't find it. Not that it has great financial value - but that it was a gift from my grandmother. To find it again makes me love and miss her in a very wonderful way.

Thank you! I went to high school with one of the daughters of the family that owned the store. And I have wonderful memories of shopping there (particularly at the jewelry counter) with my grandmother.
