Here via the Latest Things feed; this news is music to my ...eyes. Er. Well, whatever. Passing it on like an extra hot potato, and thank you so much for the heads up!
Obviously, I support whatever choice you make, but I have a question... I'm not sure I understand all the fussing. Apparently this update went live yesterday and I still have subject lines for my comments and a drop-down list for my icons. So... what's going on? So confused. >.<;;;
The problem isn't so much with individual accounts that have implemented templates with custom user pages. It's with communities, particularly anon kink memes that run off of a single community entry.
Most comms do not have paid LJ time, and such, cannot implement custom entry pages. Which means they are forced to use the default pages - which now have no subject line. Go to the entry page for collarkink to see what that looks like now.
It is the way this has been implemented that makes me want to leave LJ. The management "announced" the actual change on the Russian language page (sneaky), and despite the (now) tens of thousands of negative comment, has declared that this is a non-negotiable change because "subject lines in comments are ugly."
For years, we've put up with a lot of crap that LJ management has thrown at users, and for some (like me) it's the straw that's broken the camel's back.
