Happily Apple-y

My iPhone 4S arrived yesterday. I haven't been a "have to have it on Launch Day" fangirl for a few years. In fact, after waiting ON THE FUCKING LINE for eight hours for the original iPhone, I vowed never to do that again. EVER.

And I have stuck to my vow. I waited two months when the iPhone 3G came out, waited 7 months to upgrade to the 3GS (something to do with a contract with AT&T) and didn't even bother with the iPhone 4G (again with that damn contract).

So, I got up early last Friday, placed my order and spent much of yesterday refreshing the UPS tracking screen. It arrived at my house because for some reason, Apple wouldn't let me ship to my office, not that it would have made a difference. I still needed my computer to register it.

And of course, I ducked out of work a half hour early to get home to my new shiny. My precious.

But that meant updating the software on Beast Under the Desk. The thing that pants hot air between my legs on cold winter days. I've been hearing about all sorts of trouble people have been having and I thought I'd wait a week or so. But I really didn't have a choice, if I wanted to get my new shiny working and all the neat things promised by iCloud (like having access to all of my eps of White Collar, regardless of devise).

Maybe the goddesses were smiling on me, but the updates went flawlessly. It took time, but that was to be expected. And there was a minor stutter when I finally registered the iPhone. It gave me a nasty error message (like it couldn't register the phone with the number I had provided. I just unplugged it from iTunes and replugged it - and it was fine).

And may I say, Siri is the fucking BOMB. I'm driving and I swipe and press and ask if I have new mail. She tells me yes or no. She reads the mail to me. I LOVE SIRI. But she only respects me :():

I waited 4 hours for my 3g on release day so I too got up last friday morning (LOL I was so sick all i could do was drag myself to laptop to order then back to bed XD) and it came yesterday - I had my mom come stay at my house early to wait for it while I was at work! And now I have it and LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!

The camera is so much more improved :D :D :D I can't believe how great it takes pics! We went to State Fair today and I got some great shots <3 I already took videos of Kira :D :) It is so FAST! :D

Did you get a white or black? I went with white and I was afraid the screen wouldn't be as crisp but so far so good :D (Siri doesn't understand me very well :( maybe my accent? Either way, I never like voice control all that much so I prob won't put the time into making her learn...)

Yay! New gadget! I totally get what you mean, though I myself made a conscious decision not to get an iPhone. I have the HTC Incredible S, which is very similar to the iPhone, only not made by Apple. :-P And, well, of course it has Android and not the Apple OS (and cost about 2/3 of an iPhone). I'm completely happy with it and I love the sheer fact that (at least within Germany) I can now go on the internet wherever I want. Well, almost...
