Day 4 – Favorite horror movie
The Silence of the Lambs

I am not a fan of horror movies, or even of just plain scary movies (hence, I don't watch a lot of Hitchcock), but Silence of the Lambs, which certainly qualifies as truly scary movie, is one of my all-time favorite films.
The attraction isn't the complex character of Hannibal Lecter, but that of Clarice Starling. She doesn't put up with bullshit and even though she's still a trainee, she doesn't hesitate to call her boss on his chauvinism. I've tried to watch Manhunter and the theatrical remake, Red Dragon, but I was never really captured by the story. At least not enough to get past my low threshold for violence. And the Starling-focused sequel to Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal, wasn't worth the effort. Firstly, Jodie Foster didn't resume her role and secondly, Clarice Starling became the victim. That was a sin too great to forgive.
