I usually let the day pass by without notice.  I wear my usual black and I have no expectations of romance.  I don't wish any of my friends a happy v-day and I'll make it a point to have dinner at home.

But something caught my eye today - a piece of Op-Art in the New York Times that's worth sharing:

Title: Intermezzo - SPQR IV
Author: [livejournal.com profile] elrhiarhodan
Rating: R
Fandom: White Collar
Spoilers: None
Warnings/Enticements/Triggers: None
Word Count: ~1400
Summary: Peter and Neal prepare to go undercover to take down Yernakov, but Neal has a minor objection and a possible solution.

Author’s Note: I’ve been in the mood to do a little cleaning out of my WiPs folder, and a something named “SPQR Snippet” caught my eye. The file was last opened in July – back when my S1 fanon was being thoroughly destroyed. This truly was a snippet - about 50 words. The SPQR undercover ’verse is a subset of the Paladin ‘Verse, and Peter and Neal are going to take down a Russian crime lord and his vast money laundering operation. Peter has an old, still active alias – Sebastian Pytor Quinell Rubicov. Neal is going in as his partner, Nick Halden. Their entry into Yernakov’s world will be through a network of high end sex clubs, and they are going deep cover. Peter has a lot of reservations about Neal’s ability to work so deep, especially when they won’t have a van full of agents listening in and ready to break the doors down.

This piece gathers a lot of old story threads from the Paladin 'verse and sets the stage for the actual operation.
