I've loved Celtic and English folk music since high school, and have collected books of poetry that feed my love.

Sometime back in the tail end of the first half of the 1990s, I was roaming around my local Barnes & Nobles and spotted this book. I was flat broke (unemployed, just moved back with the parents after flaming out as a Philadelphia lawyer), my unemployment was mostly going to student loan servicing and gas, but I really wanted this book. I wrote down the name, but not the author. I remembered it had a red spine (it kind of does), and left the store.

A few months later, somewhat gainfully employed, with a few paychecks under my belt, and more relevantly, a gift card from B&N from my sister for my birthday in my wallet, I went back to get this book. It was nowhere to be found.

Fortunately, the clerk was actually willing to help. I had the title (YAY), but for some reason, it wasn't showing up as a stock item. And I kept remembering the red spine. She went into the back and twenty minutes late came out with this book.

I nearly kissed her.

It's always a wonderful feeling when you find that treasure you'd been looking for. Nowadays, we can jot down the information on our phones and look it up on Amazon later, since they seem to have just about everything on the planet in a warehouse somewhere. I can't tell you how many times I've googled something I remember seeing in a store somewhere. Sometimes I'm successful and sometimes... well, sometimes it feels like I hallucinated the whole thing. I think the search for the thing is half the fun, and the other half is the feeling you get when you find it.
