Round Two of the Book Cover Meme, still ganked with love and gratitude from

"Choose 20 books that have stayed with you or influenced you. 1 book per day for 20 days, in no particular order. no explanations, no reviews: just covers."

Check the first comment to see if I can’t resist adding a bit of commentary. This time around, I think I’m rarely going to resist that urge.

My mom got it for me as a sick-room gift -- I'd spent a lot of my preteens as a Victorian invalid -- pneumonia, bronchitis, mono, other shit, and I missed a lot of school. On occasion, my mother would go to B. Dalton's and get a few books for me, usually anything that was vaguely fantasy-ish. Some were misses (looking at you, The Witch of Blackbird Pond). This one was a definite hit. I didn't connect with A Wrinkle in Time as much, and A Swiftly Tilting Planet remains forever unfinished, despite the winged horse on the cover. And the fourth book? I have no idea what the name of it is.

Date: 2025-03-12 02:40 am (UTC)I tried to read A Wrinkle in Time as an adult because so many of my friends listed it as an absolute favorite pre-teen book and I felt out of the loop.
I definitely missed my window to be entranced and I'm sad about that. Not only for that story, but my hesitancy to read any of their other work as well. 😭😭
