Summary: Obi-Wan Kenobi has never known it, but he has always been the Force’s Champion, destined to suffer infinite sadness in defense of the Light. On his last turn on the wheel, responsibility for The Chosen One, the false child of prophecy, had been thrust upon him with no warning, and Darkness held the upper hand.

But this time, the Force has marshaled its power and will protect its Champion until the time is right, no matter how long Obi-Wan has to wait and how much he has to suffer.

Or,

Obi-Wan is reborn as a twelve-year old.

He wakes up on a slavers’ ship, with all of his prior life’s memories intact, and he’s bound for Tatooine with a Force-inhibitor collar around his neck, a bomb implanted in his spine, and no way of knowing what state of the Galaxy is in.

Just another day in the life of the Force’s Champion.

Chapter Summary: Qui-Gon returns from a mission on Jabiim, debriefs with the High Council and gets no answers on any of his questions regarding the progress the Order is making in freeing Obi-Wan.

It’s been a long and frustrating year.

But when he gets back to his quarters, Qui-Gon finds a surprising message waiting for him.

From All The Spaces Between Times - Chapter Nine - And It Is Written, We Should Not Fear (On AO3)

Meta - Chapter Nine - And It Is Written, We Should Not Fear

As always, I am deeply grateful for all the love you’ve given this story, the outpouring of comments on the last chapter - the guessing on where the story is heading - makes me so very happy.

My weekly progress report.

166,645 words
33 chapters

Only six thousand words this week, not a lot. I took off two days to write a section for one of the epilogue chapters for A River Moving Through You, which I’m a co-author on, but [profile] writestufflee really is doing 99.999% of the heavy lifting. BTW - if you like modern AUs and haven’t read any of the Yooper’verse yet, please go read this one. The first story, Ever Since Happiness Heard Your Name is the most perfect fic ever written.

Actually, I only needed one day for the 2k she asked for, I needed one day to recover from finishing Scene from Hell, otherwise known as Chapter 32. It’s done and it’s good, only took me three days to write and two days to edit. Lots of words written, lots got chopped out.

Had to kill a lot of darlings. Oh well, the life of a writer…

This Chapter Is a Lot of Fluff

I don’t write fluff, generally. But sometimes, I do realize my readers need a break from the plot intensive stuff, the heavy drama, and the angst. So here you go. My version of cotton candy.

Lonesome Lughashe

And the newsletter ends with the same closing note that’s appeared in every edition for the last three hundred some-odd years: the Jedi Genetics Bank is still hoping someone might find a mate for Lonesome Lughashe, the massive, long-lived Force-sensitive Testudinoidial that has been living by itself in the Temple’s zoologic park for the last five-hundred years.

For the biologists out there, you might guess what a Testudinoidial is. For those who aren’t biologists:

Tortoises are reptiles of the family Testudinidae of the order Testudines. Lughashe was named "Lonesome" in honor of "Lonesome George", the last male Pinta Island tortoise and the last known individual of his subspecies - and by the time he died, "the rarest creature in the world".

Without giving anything else away, Lughashe will have a happier resolution than George.

The Dreams

The co-dreaming is a homage to my favorite time travel / fix-it series, Side-Slip, by [archiveofourown.org profile] jessebee. Sadly, the series is incomplete and seems to be abandoned since 2018, but it five complete fics and is still worth reading.

Besalisks

Chalk this one up to "learn something new every day" but according to the Star Wars New Essential Guide to Alien Species:

Besalisks are large, stocky, flightless, featherless avian humanoids who hail from the planet Ojom, located in the Deep Core.

So, basically, Besalisks are birds. The space equivalent of ostriches. Or emus. Or REALLY BIG CHICKENS.

Also, apparently, female Besalisks can have up to eight arms. But don’t worry, Lady Cyral has just the standard four. Her mate, Ducca, may have six. Or eight. We haven’t met her yet. But they like Max Rebo’s jizz so they have good taste.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

That’s it for this week. But next week, things really get rockin’ and rollin’. Hope you enjoyed this bit of fluff and are prepared to strap in, because it’s going to be all systems go for the foreseeable future.
