Hello, 2025, I'd say you better be an improvement over 2024 but I don't hold out much hope...
I welcome everyone except the haters. This blog is not a place for those who want to bash and trash and otherwise be unpleasant. I generally avoid inflammatory political rhetoric, if just because if I wanted that, I'd be on FB. I used to post quite a bit of personal stuff, but lately, I've been playing my cards close to my vest and not sharing anything (for reasons...). If I do share and you do want to know what's going on in my life, it'll be locked for members of my circle. So subscribe to
elrhiarhodan and do the clicky on the proper button. I'll likely add you back - unlike with tumblr where I almost never do.
My fannish interests are fairly narrow, and I am really very monofannish. Right now, I've fallen into my first megafandom, Star Wars. I'm really entirely ship-based in my creative interests - right now I'm writing a major Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan time-travel AU, which I publish weekly on Thursdays. The chapters are on AO3 but I post a concurrent meta (the old-fashioned DVD commentary) here along with the chapter post notification. As if right now, it's about 300k and will probably finish at 400-450k. I read a lot of everything from the prequels and original trilogy (I don't really care for the sequels and what they did to my beloveds.
My previous major fandoms are White Collar, and Seasons 1 & 2 of The Flash, and Kingsman. I've flirted with a bit of Marvel, some Sherlock, Morse'verse, a few other random fandoms in crossovers.
2025 will likely be a continuation of 2024, with weekly postings of my time-travel AU chapter notifications and the meta posts. And maybe an occasional something else if the mood strikes. I don't know. Right now, I'm feeling grim about everything.
Just so you know that I know, if you're going through the first years of my journal looking for old White Collar entries, there are a metric fuck-ton of duplicates. I used to replicate posts from here to LJ, and on several occasions, the linkage did something strange and ended up duplicating entries. Now I need to go through entry by entry and figure out which ones are duplicates (the ones without comments) and nuke them. It's tedious and not fun and I was prolific here for years, so it's not something that I can do in a few hours.
What else? I'm sure there's a lot to say but I can't think of it at the moment. Please don't be afraid to comment or reach out to me. I'm housebroken, I don't bite, and I love to make new friends. I'm a golden retriever, what can I say?

My own Golden Retriever, Brandy, circa 1981

Date: 2018-12-04 03:41 pm (UTC)I love Moorcroft and have a tiny collection (four pieces?) and all modern. I haven't thought about it in years, but I do enjoy looking at what I own.
Thank you so much for reaching out! If you ever feel like chatting about anything else, I'm here all the time.

I have been thinking about rebooting for a while, but my brain has only come back on line in the last few weeks. Let's just say that I lost all of July and August and most of September and October.
How have YOU been?

Date: 2018-12-04 11:20 pm (UTC)I agree with you a thousand percent. There's really just no way to be thoughtful and well-spoken on that platform. I, too, had been thinking about updating this site, but wondered if it would be worth the effort. Tumblr's new policies just made it well worth the effort. Tumblr is all about the pretty and not able engagement or interaction - there's no meaningful way to have a conversation on that platform, at least that I've found, and frankly, I simply don't trust Tumblr, and especially not Verizon (remember who let the government in to listen to citizen's communications during the height of the Gulf War under the USA PATRIOT Act? Verizon, that's who. The first to let the Bush regime put black boxes in the telco substations all over the country). Dreamwidth has no corporate overlords and is completely member supported, and they've gone to the wall for their member's freedom of expression and their privacy.
And yes, it's a joy to navigate and find what you've created. You own your tags and it's up to you to keep them organized and current, but even if you don't - there's no one to scream at you for "polluting" a tag since they aren't site-wide. That had been the biggest shock for me when I started using Tumblr - I didn't own my tags and if I wanted to put in a shippy tag for a discussion post about how I didn't care for the ship, I'd have to bear the weight of the fandom's displeasure for my criticism.
Does that make any sense?
I do tend to ramble on here - hope you're cool with that.
Welcome back to adult-level blogging!

Missed you and so glad to see you here. I'm looking forward to more adult engagement than is possible on Tumblr.
What are you fannish about these days?

Date: 2018-12-05 03:09 am (UTC)I found Tumblr to be a good place to hang out while between fandoms. I got to see all the pretty pics and gifs without feeling the need to interact, but I absolutely miss the fandom interaction. So, so much.
I have a Pillowfort account but have not posted anything there. I realized that I just didn't have anything to post when I got my invite, but I made one in the hopes that I'll find a fandom to inspire me soon. I've been struggling on that front since WC ended. I miss WC fandom.
I just wanted to say hi and send you {{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}
(Edited because I realized I forgot to add that my Pillowfort account name is authorangelita :) )

Date: 2018-12-05 03:16 pm (UTC)I have made my donation and I'll eventually get a key for Pillowfort, but I don't see it becoming my main blogging platform. I've missed this style of adult-level blogging, and while Tumblr has the advantage of immediacy and a strong image-focused set of tools, it's never been a place where I've been comfortable expressing myself.
Hoping that I'll get back into the habit here, on DW, and find my voice again. I'll let you know what my Pillowfort account name is, but I do expect it'll be Elrhiarhodan.
Big surprise, no?

Date: 2018-12-05 03:13 pm (UTC)I've been not great - some serious health issues took me off line for the entire summer and much of the early autumn, but I am getting better.
How are you??? How has life been treating you?

Date: 2018-12-12 11:07 pm (UTC)I had kind of wondered where you had disappeared to. (I knew you were on tumblr, but since I don't have an account there I only ever pop over there very, very occasionally.)
I am sorry to hear about the health problems, but happy to hear you are on the mend :).

Date: 2019-03-21 06:04 pm (UTC)Thank you so much! I'm not writing much standalone White Collar these days, but have been crossing it over with my new(ish) fandom, Kingsman. Feel free to add me as a friend, and I'll add you back.

Date: 2022-02-05 03:05 pm (UTC)Welcome! I’m not as active here as I want to be - but I am going to try and I hope you enjoy. My posts are pretty random stuff, combination of memes ganked from Tumblr (and you are most welcome to play along), rambles about random stuff, rages against the machine, and fannish stuff - tho less of the last these days.

Date: 2024-01-03 07:38 am (UTC)Hi there!
Oooo... color me intrigued.
SW continues to be my main fandom. I'm paddling around the Clone Wars end of the SW pool more often than not- and yeah, the Sequels are Not Good. Which is sad, as I really do like Finn - Rey - Poe.
Regular posting does seem to be a common desire. May the collective hope and determination prevail!
