I missed doing the post ep dish last week. Vacation was fun, but there are some things that absolutely need to take precedence over vacation - and first run eps of White Collar is one of them.
I still haven't fully digested last week's ep - it needs a complete rewatch because I was really kind of half asleep when I watched it. There was a lot of pretty, a lot of info, and a few things that made other people unhappy. Hopefully in this ep, there will be a lot of pretty, a lot of info and nothing to upset the thinking class.
In the news - I don't know how to feel about Hilarie Burton's elevation as a regular cast member. I've decided I don't really hate her - and I do like the dialogue, but I am afraid that she'll be shoehorned in to the detriment of the greater relationship between Peter and Neal (canonical), and Diana and Jones (and quite perhaps Mozzie and El) will be sacrificed to make room for her. I don't really want to get into the discussion here, but I guess it's inevitable that we will. I don't hate her on principle - but I don't think she's either necessary or an improvement. And I also fear that giving Neal a permanent love interest is more of a sop to middle America threatened by a gay man in a starring role in a hit series than a true attempt to advance a character driven show.
Jeez - and I really expect you not to comment on this?
Oh, well. Almost time for Countermeasures. And is it really a spoiler that Lando Calrissian is playing the jazz trumpet?
Here we go - See you on the other side.
Work implies I have a job -
She doesn't even look up - she'll break his arms
Neal's so damn beautiful in that suit.
ELIZABETH!!!!!!!!
Hmmm - I've had dogs all my life and dogs don't like shiny things because they're shiny. And Peter's so cute apologizing to his dog.
And how does El know his phone's going to ring?
Love June's clothes and jewelry
AND NEAL'S CLOSET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I KNEW HE HAD TO HAVE A CLOSET, and not just that little armoire by the bed. I NEED CLOSET PORN NOW. I NEED PETER AND NEAL FUCKING IN THE CLOSET. Will anyone oblige?
Book club = wonder what they're reading - Kitty Kelly, apparently
A crew - Not for rowing. Snerk - Peter Burke, you're too clever for words.
I love Peter's expressions - priceless barely describes it. Can I have your behbees?
AND ELIZABETH!
Hell of an outside patsy.
And the singing - Diahann and Matt! I want to hear the whole thing!
And Peter can dance - I had predicted this - a year or more ago --> linky
No reputation is the best reputation
And why wouldn't Moz have a hair dryer? That is an insult to the follically challenged.
This isn't the same set / house as Pilot - or at least the art work and wall color is completely different. (ETA - Per JE, this is the same mansion, so it's gotten a much needed decorative refresh).
"A 12 year old who just discovered the lingerie section of the Sears Catalog" This has to be the best line of the season.
God, they are both so pretty. And Neal seems especially beautifully this episode.
And I've called the baseball analogy too - you can find that in the Criminal Minds crossover.
"It's as if they're speaking Crimnese."
Peter looks like a proud papa when Neal runs through the fake IDs
Billy Dee Williams - over actor extraordinaire
Ninja Neal!
Badass Diana!
Burke the jerk!
Why is Neal wearing tuxedo pants? With a pinstriped jacket?
June wants to go dancing - I called this one too. The June/Bancroft fic.
And we're done. For now.
Okay, flist and other fans - what are your thinky and not so thinky thoughts?
My opinion - this was, from top to bottom - the best episode of the season.
Do you concur?
