Day 26 - A Photo Of Something Old

March, 2014
New York, New York
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
The Temple of Dendur, built around 15 BCE, and gifted by the Egyptian Government to the United States in 1963 after its original location was to be flooded by the opening of the Aswan High Dam.
The Sphinx, though in close proximity to the Temple, was not part of the Temple, and is almost 1500 years older than the temple, dating from 1470 BCE. It is called the Sphinx of Hatshepsut, representing the reign of the only female pharaoh of Egypt.
I took this photo on a wonderful trip through the museum (and in a way, through the history of the world), with my dearest friend,
theatregirl7299 when she visited with my last March.
