I love her as a villain. She is truly the most chilling person this show has ever created, and her last words to Neal were terrifying.
I can't agree about the relationship between Peter and Neal healing yet, because Peter is still being sanctimonious, and has failed to show any remorse for the absolutely reprehensible way he's been acting. I still have zero respect for that character at the moment. And I think it was very telling that, while Peter was acting like things were somehow warmer and better between them, Neal didn't thaw.Peter didn't notice, because Peter's being almost terminally dense. Right now, I truly think he's given up where Peter is concerned.
I was surprised, nonetheless, that they didn't show Peter having any kind of reaction at all when he asked Neal how he knew Rebecca/Rachel wouldn't shoot him, and Neal just shrugged. Really? The semi-suicidal impulse evokes no alarm? At all?
My theory, which started last week and I'm feeling even more confident about now, is that Peter is going to find something in that file on Neal's childhood that's going to upend his comfy belief that Neal became a criminal because it was shiny and easy, and is going to end up eating his smug "a life of lies catches up to you" comment.
Something bad's coming. Rachel's is one scary, dangerous person, and I don't think she's out of the game for the season.
