I laughed, I cried. I did a lot of crying, actually. Thankfully, I was wearing my waterproof mascara tonight.
This was simply lovely! I absolutely adore red velvet cake; it's my favorite by far. And I can understand the obsession with a particular bakery. There's one near where I live that makes the best cupcakes ON THE PLANET. But I digress.
As always, your writing is pitch-perfect. Seeing the trainwreck coming and still being surprised by it is a feat you accomplish with ease. Both Peter and Neal were absolutely in character, for all that they're both different men in this story. I'm not sure I could pick out my favorite part, because it was all just so good, even the most heartbreaking parts. I especially loved the Elizabeth/Reese pairing. I'd never even thought about it before, but I could totally see them together. And your Mozzie... just as quirky as ever.
I could go on, but suffice to say that this was a wonderful way to spend my Saturday night. A glass of wine, a football game on in the background and a good romance. Brava!
