Late last night, I realized something. This ep was so mostly meh because Peter had very little screen time - just the beginning and the end. Could it be that this was the episode before the episode that Tim directed this season?
And a tweet confirmed it - his ep is up next week. So, instead of being in nearly every scene, Tim was prepping for his work for the next episode. That explains it!
