This is lovely. You write the characters with so much love.
I am echoing comments above that I love your observations on the characters and I love this look at Neal through Peter's loving eyes.
You captured Neal really well here. He really doesn't ever actually laugh a lot. He has that air of melancholy about him.
I loved Peter's need to go see Neal and him climbing into bed with him even though he could still get sick.
And Neal laughing at Bugs Bunny feels just right.
