Drive-by update, my friends. Hope you're all enjoying the Labor(less) Day weekend.
1 - I think the horrible house (the one I'm selling) thing is settled. I will (please keep your fingers crossed) be moving on September 10th. Cable and internet are supposed to be turned on and working by the afternoon of the 11th. Which means I should be able to watch WC and do the Dish. If I survive the move and all that jazz.
2 - White Collar Big Bang is DONE!!!!!!! Hurray and alleluia! Thirty-thousand words of pretty plotless Hurt/Comfort, and the last 20k came since the 20th of August. I'm ... exhausted. Many thanks to everyone who encouraged me, kept me going and believed in this story. My posting date is September 22. I feel so accomplished.
3 - Despite (or maybe because of) all of the packing (I didn't do), I have and haven't had a very prolific summer. Since July 1, I've written over 85k, including the to-be-published Big Bang and several longer WiP. But, if I was to only count the published stories, it's 43k. Word count and story count are definitely down from last year (63,400 and 30, respectively)
4 - I'm in a similar boat as fellow Big Bang writers - what to work on next? I have an RPF in the works, as well as my Poly Big Bang (but that's already well past the word count requirements). Also working on another chapter/timestamp for Wonder(ful) years. But you know what's pulling at me? My long dormant series, Vampire World. I think I'm going to take the time this week to post it on AO3 and get back into the feel of it. I know where the story's going and I have the ending in my head - I just haven't been motivated to write it. I'm in the mood for something that has nothing to do with Hurt/Comfort. Ever major story I've written in the last five months has serious physical H/C content - and since I don't normally do that type of h/c, this is kind of strange.
But I'm not making any promises, either.
5 - I am disappointed that I didn't get into the city for a single WC location shoot. Here's to next year...JE's already talking about S5, but has it been officially greenlit? (Bites at nails nervously).
There are other things going on...new house stuff that will frankly bore your socks off (fencing and appliances and house numbers and lighting and paint colors).
So, I'll leave you with this:
