This isn't the first time I've written a sequel to a short story that become far longer and more complex than the original - I do enjoy digging my way out of the situations I create.
And I am so glad the ending worked for you. It was one I had a little trouble finding - had to drive around for an hour or so before it came to me. I do my best plotting at 65 mph.
