Neal had scoffed at the idea of Christmas stockings, saying that he didn’t need any such thing, but tradition won out in the end, and it wasn’t just Elizabeth blinking back a tear at the way Neal’s eyes lit up, the way he grinned like a kid – well, like a kid at Christmas – as he pulled a handful of chocolate out of his very own stocking that first Christmas he shared with her and Peter.
