2017 - Dreamwidth and LJ Going Forward
Jan. 11th, 2017 09:51 amAs most of you know by now, LiveJournal has moved all of their servers to Russia, which means that the entire service is no longer subject to U.S. law. That is a rather unpalatable situation.
I've been posting to LJ via my Dreamwidth account for a number of years but have always considered by LJ account to be primary. That will probably change in the next few months.
I will still post to LJ, but I anticipate locking down comments there - basically requiring everyone to respond on DW. It doesn't mean you have to have a Dreamwidth account - you can respond via OpenID. The only time that won't work is if I've locked a post, which rarely happens.
The change will be gradual, and when it gets to the point that traffic on my LJ grinds to a halt, I'll likely stop cross-posting (but I don't imagine that will happen for quite a while, if ever).
I urge everyone to get a free Dreamwidth account and sign up and add me to your circle, so I can add you back.
Thanks for understanding and let's move forward to a more positive, open and free-speech for all future!
