She didn’t know quite what to make of Neal’s friend. When she was first introduced to Mozzie, she wondered at Neal’s association with him. He was in a wheelchair at the time, recovering from an assassin’s bullet and his behavior was shy and aggressive and thoroughly eccentric. She didn’t get his relationship with Neal - why would this charming, debonair art thief, a modern Cary Grant what to have anything to do with this … weirdo?

That was the only way to describe him. Weird. Quirky. Annoying. At first, she didn’t understand why Neal would want to hang with this guy.

Then Sara spent some time in his company and finally understood. Moz was a genius, his creativity unparalleled. Sara had spent a lot of time around smart people - many of them of the criminal persuasion, but no one ever came close to the sheer brilliance of the man she was told to call “Mozzie.”

Sometimes it was like watching Rainman. His social skills were on the level of a kindergartener’s, and frankly he was a more effective method of birth control than the Pill, a condom and an IUD. Combined. His sense of timing was perfect in that regard.

But he also surprised her with how he cared for the people around him. He saw Neal as a combination of brother and son - and not just as the heir to his own criminal genius. He truly loved Neal - for all that he was probably the one who was going to get him locked up for the rest of his life.

And that was going to be a problem. She didn’t love Neal, but she didn’t want to see him waste the rest of his life behind bars. Best friend or not, Moz was going to have to go.
