I love both periods, and "The Lion In Winter" is one of my all time favorite movies. Wow, the mind games in that movie, the power plays. To think what passed for pageantry in those days, and plumbing! LOL
The Golden Age of Elizabeth had a more refined brutality to it and of course all the men who vied to attempt to rule her throne could drive anyone to distraction. I find it ironic that she worked so hard to to keep Mary from taking her throne and then named Mary's son as her heir.
Anyway, I'm loving this story in this time period. It's a great place to play
