Happy New Year, My Friends
I've been of two minds about posting anything to mark the end of the decade, simply because I'm not feeling particularly hopeful about the future. But I just realized something, this coming year marks my first decade in fandom, which is something worth celebrating.
I came late in life to the party, but as the saying goes, better late than never. (If you want to read the true and mildly amazing story, it's the very first post on this journal, here). And I can't imagine what my life would be like without the people I've met because of fandom. Some have come and gone as we've moved onto different fannish interests, others have stayed and are (hopefully) going to be part of my life for a good, long time. Regardless if they are still with me or not, I am utterly grateful for all of the happiness they have brought to me and that will never change.
If I'm quiet of late, it's because I've been doing a lot of living inside my head, which isn't a bad thing - I guess I just to haven't had too much to say, and rather than ramble about nothing important, I'm appreciating other voices.
I'll be posting a year-end review of my fanworks in the next few days and a bit of a plan for my writing in 2020 (supplementing what I'd written here). Also, I'll be doing the Fandom Snowflake thing again.
But in the mean time, I want to wish everyone a very happy (if possible) and healthy New Year. May we all survive to usher in 2030 (or at least 2021) in a better frame of mind.
