I think Peter believes this is supposed to be what he wants. He's an FBI lifer and with that comes the you must move up the "corporate" ladder.
But, he's more than just hinted at not enjoying the paperwork or the being off the streets bit. And, as section chief he will never leave his office except to go to interdepartmental meetings. Bleh!
I also think part of him thinks that this is what El would want, to keep him off the streets and safe from harm.
And, I know it's a minor point, but no way, no how did she get a job at the National Gallery. She doesn't even come close to having the credentials. Assistant Manager at a NY gallery a decade ago, even a high profile one is not the right resume. Unless she got a job managing their catering facilities. Then maybe. And, what about Burke Premier Events???
