I liked the episode. I also liked Rachel a lot when she finally dropped the act and showed her badass core. I don't doubt her promise that she'll be meeting Neal again, soon. I can't wait to find out how.
The only beef I had with the story was Rachel falling for Neal and actually letting it ruin her plans. I'm not saying cons don't have feelings, but for someone as experienced as she is, it was a little ridiculous to risk it all for a little girls crush. In reality she would have shot Neal in the church, or better, used him as a hostage to escape.
I thought we were in for some delicious Neal whump when he got shot. Can't say I wasn't disappointed. They owe us Neal whump before the season ends.
Totally thought El was going to say she was preggers and, like you, totally cringed inside. As someone who doesn't have children, and never thinks her life is incomplete without them, I completely agree with the positive image this childless couple projects. I'm hoping they keep it this way and don't fall for the tiresome trope of every happy couple having a nursery in their home.
Despite the friendship repair job in this episode I'm still pissed at Peter hammering Neal's criminal activity over his head. It's like he's daft, doesn't realize his life would never have ended where it did, with him and El celebrating his promotion with Champagne, if it weren't for Neal. If he doesn't think he should be grateful to him the least he could do is stop being an ass to him.
Speaking of the celebration, I absolutely despise how nonchalant Peter and El are about leaving NY and Neal behind. I'm not saying they should hang their happiness up for him. But the way his absence from their lives, after being such an integral part of it for so long, seems a non-issue to them feels so cold and stupid. Why is JE ruining the emotional core of his own show? Why did we, the audience, have to care about the relationship between this couple and their pet con when they themselves don't seem to give a damn? I must say I'm disappointed, and if the show gets in fact renewed I want the reason for P+E not going to DC to have to do with Neal.

Once again, thanks for the dish.
